Aug 13, 2024 Woah woah. I though it went without saying RG9 clearly got mixed up when he said "of all time" and assumed he meant "of all Eminem albums". This was the assumption I was under when I made my reply. Of course its not of all time because Eminem would be nowhere near that list. And no, there is no better 6 stretch run on MMLP. White America and Business take the edge over Amityville and BP2.
Aug 13, 2024 That was started by him recording the piano loop to a portable recorder and he claims he wrote the verses on a plane whilst listening to that vocal loop over and over. When he got to LA he had Mike Elizondo and Thomas Coster Jr recreate the loop on keyboards and bass then programmed the drum beat himself. Sounds like just one of those magic sessions where all the musicians were locked in.
Aug 13, 2024 Yeah of course I meant just Em’s albums. But you’re obviously right, that TES runs clears it. The comment was more of a hyperbole to say how much I rate the first half of the TDOSS & that Road Rage ruined the vibe/musical consistency of it
Aug 13, 2024 I've gone on and on about how great Amityville is, but I don't think I've ever mentioned that I think Eminem's verse on b---- Please II is one of the best of his career. That Snoop impression at the end is simply brilliant.
Aug 13, 2024 The funny thing about Bad One - the beat is VERY similar to Marsh and both songs (in my opinion) have awful third verses Marsh's third verse is super corny and Bad One's third verse has awful flows/delivery I'd rate them both much higher if they didn't have a throwaway verse on the end of it
Aug 13, 2024 JUVENILE & MANNIE FRESH REACT TO EMINEM SAMPLING 'HA' ON NEW ALBUM On the back half of the track “Road Rage,” Em prominently samples the 1998 single which later featured JAY-Z on the remix. “Shout out to Eminem. He just took ‘Ha,'” Juvenile began. “We can’t do nothing with these songs sitting down, we can’t make no money with these songs just sitting down so I applaud the artists, especially the artists that are real good at it that got talent.” Mannie Fresh then weighed in: “I think it’s the biggest homage anybody can pay to you when it’s a credible artist. When somebody like Eminem uses your song or when Jay jumped on ‘Ha,’ that’s like, ‘Wow.’ “It’s incredible because if you’re sitting down in a barber shop and we talking, you can stick your chest out and be like, ‘But did Eminem ever rap on any of your beats?’ [Laughs]. ‘Did Jay ever rap on any of your beats?'” Juvenile also discussed his relationship with Eminem and how he found out the song was being used by him: “Eminem is my dude. When my career started, Em was one of them guys who reached out and showed us love in the beginning so he’s my guy. But I didn’t expect that. We knew it was coming out but I didn’t hear it.”
Aug 13, 2024 I like Bad One. Marsh has gotten worse and worse for me as time goes on. I think the Travis Scott impression is stupid. Overall, Marsh feels like an empty and forgettable song. Eminem feels so lifeless on it. Bad One has some oomph to it.
Aug 13, 2024 My skips on MTBMB (both sides): Those Kinda Nights In Too Deep (sometimes I’m in the mood for this song and like it but 90% of the time I’d skip) Yah Yah (can’t stand the sample and beat) Stepdad Marsh Little Engine Farewell (same case as In Too Deep) Alfred’s Theme (same case as In Too Deep) Tone Deaf Gnat (kinda boring to me now except for the last beat switch) Higher
Aug 13, 2024 Marsh & Little Engine are two of my top for Side A. And Alfred's Theme & Tone Deaf for B. d--- son.
Aug 13, 2024 Those songs just don’t do much for me. They go in one ear and out the other while making me feel absolutely nothing. Often one of the reasons I listen to music is to feel something, so those songs making me feel nothing is a big problem to me. The best way I can describe it is it feels like I’m eating nothing but white bread.
Aug 13, 2024 It retroactively made MTBMB even worse for me, and I already thought it was a mediocre album lol
Aug 13, 2024 I know the beat is that way on purpose, but I just hate that beat. If it had a different beat maybe I would like it better
