And relapse was clearly something he was passionate about and (obviously) no label would ever advise to do so deffo was from his soul. Recovery was beginning of the shilling and its been hollow ever since. Isnt there the interview where he said he gave the reigns to Paul post relapse reception? He literally let his manager have control of the art at that point

Aug 27, 2024 Lmao never heard anything like that coming out of Em's mouth. It was him who looked for other producers and new sounds with his new s--- after the relapse reception which is kinda dumb to me in a way. I mean Dre's production and the albums sound was not critisized by anybody at all. But I guess, he felt like he needed a fresh pair of ears and new sounds to get into a different mood and reinvent himself. I hated Recovery specially the shouting and very loud, not really clear, rock inlluenced production of it. But looking back from now, I don't have much to complain, it gave him a lot of new audience, a second prime and different sounding one of a kind album in his discography...
