Sep 2, 2024 Yeah there was no real motivation to let him go narrative wise, he just does it. Eminem could've been a bit more critical of the cowardice of a persona, or something more self reflective to rattle shady. Maybe talk on how he turned his back on some of his old friends (something more scathing) to then challenge him to a fight vs "i can beat you" "nuh uh". GC2 is fun for sure, and executed better than bigger recent misses like bad guy, but its not as strong as some of his early concept songs.
Sep 2, 2024 + multiple performances. I don’t know what else Ya’ll could want lol. If he had more single material the album would have stayed around but it is what it is. He did way more than I expected him to do tbh
Sep 2, 2024 It's aiyt. Completely pointless though. I don't know how many more songs or verses Em can do where he's just saying... 1. I'm the best 2. you other rappers s--- 3. f--- ho's 4. I'll rap forever Jus like a mix of that every verse. He needs some d--- content.
Sep 2, 2024 I don't disagree I find the flow and beat kinda fun I feel like he's tapped out for content, he's lived a reclusive life, and I don't think he's got much left. He had a solid chance with death of slim shady and definitely didn't take it nearly to the creative extent he could have. I like the album but it does feel kind of half assed concept wise.
Sep 2, 2024 Yeah which is why I think he needs to go artistic @ content. I've always said this about him, when he's just using his life, or anyone is just using their life as literal fuel... you're gonna run out pretty quickly. Nobody's life is that interesting. And yeah, he doesn't do much now other than sit in his mansion and write puns. So, ofc that would be the case... Which is why I've been saying for ages he needs to stop making it so about him. He even said the same himself in Relapse press releases when he came back, he said he wants to make it less 'me me me' and that's why Relapse is... although using his life and drug thing as fuel... it's fictional, obviously bc he's not a serial killer lol, so he was trying to create fiction again, and it was great and refreshing for that. Fiction is endless. But, if he insists on just writing about himself still... for sure, he has nothing interesting left to say.
Sep 2, 2024 Watched Edward Scissor hands last night. And it ends with him alone in his house cutting, a metaphor for Eminem never leaving his house and still cutting up lyrics. Ugh, god I wish we got better and more music videos this era. Houdini is the only one I felt was spectacular
Sep 2, 2024 50 Cent says Dame Dash has no money now and calls Dame Dash out for telling him that the $1 million he received from signing with Eminem's Shady Records was no money. https://x.com/ArtOfDialogue_/status/1830291079725465677
Sep 2, 2024 I was excited to talk about one of my favorite Tim Burton movies but then I read the rest of the message
Sep 2, 2024 Yeah, some of it is p funny (the deaf thing legit made me laugh out loud when I heard it), well written and performed, with very few weak or cringey or eye rolley lines like usual; he coulda just, took it over the edge next level with just a bit more though, jus a bit more cinematic-esque killing of Shady I think, plus... some little refrain, hook type thing jus said once, or a bridge or something, just to make it feel a bit bigger, not jus like a long verse.
Sep 2, 2024 While I love GC2 I feel like Em and Shady went harder at each other on the complex interview thing lol
Sep 2, 2024 ...Yeah, true. He wasted a lot of content in that interview lol. It was funny and great but, def shoulda said half that s--- in GC2, s--- like 'you had one era that matters, you're not Taylor Swift' etc. feels hilariously honest and self-aware.
Sep 2, 2024 The song is about just rapping tho. And if we go by that logic no rapper would have released more than few albums at most. I really don't wanna see that bs complaint about Em's music, specially when it comes to the guest verses. I mean expecting him to actually come up with never done before concept or content in an album is one thing but expecting that to happen on a song he just gives a guest verse to is like... Hoe, plz.
Sep 2, 2024 It's not that difficult though is it. There's tons he hasn't done. People act like he's 'talked about everything', no he hasn't lol, he's mostly talked about himself, Hailie, Kim, made up relationships and fame. He even said before when making songs now he tries to, like he says 'have I said this before? do I really need to say it' type of thing. Well, I dunno how he's doing that with half the s--- he makes. Like, get higher standards. He has very high standards in pronounciating every vowel perfectly but not that. So when someone comes to him n is like 'you wanna jus talk s---?', why doesn't he just go 'nah, let's... think of something', I mean, you act like it's asking a lot of him - it's ALL HE DOES. As in, that's his job, that's his art. So why is that so hard. If ALL I f---ing did was sit there n think of s--- n write all day, I'm sure I could come up with s---.
Sep 2, 2024 Nobody talks about everything. It's not even possible. Besides the personal stuff what would you expect from an artist ? He doesn't have to talk about anything. Maybe he doesn't have any idea about the things you say he might talk about. Guess what, maybe he is not your cup of tea in that sense, it shouldn't be that hard to find rappers who talk about things you wanna hear why obsess over Em and constantly complain when he doesn't talk about whatever it is that you are looking for. THat's bs to me. It's not the matter of it being easy or hard, it's just what it is. I never heard any big fan of any rapper saying "he doesn't rap about this and that but yet he constantly raps about this and that blah blah" besides Em and some of the most liked and popular rappers of today basically ramble the same s--- for an entire album and even for their whole careers lmao. I don't know somebody seriously should to a statistics of rappers like Nas, Jay, Em, looking at the number of topics they talked about in their songs lmao. Bc I barely hear any rapper with 2 decades into game talking some stuff they never talked about before anyway. And not that I care that much. I check it out when they drop something, if I'm not interested in what they talk about, I don't listen to it as much most probably, I won't go on the forums and complain about it whenever he drops a song along the similer line of topics lmao.
Sep 2, 2024 I didn't say to talk about everything. Just maybe not the same s--- forever. 'Darkness' was a great example of finally looking outside of himself again. And that's why it felt so conceptually fresh. s--- like that... the possibilities are endless; so rather than going 'shall I make another song complaining about critics?', how about... no, the answer is 'no' there, and think of more concepts and s--- not about yourself. Simple. You saying 'other than personal s---, what else?', if that's seriously as far as your mind goes... you have a very small mind lol. Yes, there's nothing else. You can only talk about yourself. ...Look at films, books; imagine if all films n books were only about the author's exact life, imagine how ridiculously limited everything would be. There's endless concepts or ways to abstract ideas beyond 'duh, this happened to me, leme talk bout it, duh'. Look at writers/directors, artists, like Christopher Nolan; Memento, Inception... that's what's possible. That's got f all to do with his personal life. It's called art. Ideas are infinite.
Sep 2, 2024 Still can't believe we were only fed like 15 to 16 new songs and 1 album off a 4 year absence
