Dec 5, 2024 He always picks the worst vids and wastes eras though. Like, imagine Kamikaze dropped with The Ringer vid first day, that s--- would be huge. Then the live performances... such a missed opp to come out to that, and perform most of Kami. Imagine on stage... with Kami imagery and him with a beige jumpsuit on, hear that plane crash coming in and he bops out rapping the Ringer. Same with TDOSS... Houdini vid fire but then he picks fkn Tobey, Save Me & Temporary. As if we needed Save Me AND Temporary as well. Like, GC2... Hello! Antichrist!
Dec 5, 2024 i feel like mmlp2 is overhated. i think he let rick rubin be a little more heavy handed than he should’ve but the songs are very dense lyrically and there’s a lot of cool experimentation with sonics. complete opposite of side a to me but that isn’t what happened. i could say encore would be 10/10 with sftl in place of the joke section but that doesnt make it what he presented to people. and half of kami is still unlistenable even with goat videos and promotion for the other half
Dec 5, 2024 Yeah the rapping of mmlp2 is stellar. Some of his best ever, still; the writing on like... 'Groundhog Day' or 'Wicked Ways', so fkn dense. I feel there's so much from that era we haven't heard too, and probably a much better album he coulda made @ song choices. But, even with what he chose... it's not about the rapping - the rapping is great, we mostly all agree. But it's the production, and hooks. I mean, having something like 'The Monster' anywhere near an album with that title is just... Criminal. Album is all over the place, there's no cohesion sonically.

Dec 5, 2024 actually all true. it’s crazy that recovery was made in 4 months and possesses a more uniform sound than mmlp2 which took 3 years. although maybe that actually makes sense
Dec 5, 2024 i can see this. stuff like bad guy, evil twin, groundhog day and wicked ways are amazing insight into his psyche and sound amazing, but don’t really fit together and the album isn’t exactly great for playing in the car
