They’re always the concession when talking about how bad revival is as if they’re worth how a--- the rest of the album is. Really those songs are just aight and are only special cause they’re the only songs on revival that don’t make you wanna smash your head against the wall

Jan 17, 2022 Oh I 100% agree, he was going in. That's another thing about Revival, Em's song structure was so stale. It was 1st verse, hook, 2nd verse, hook, then a 3rd verse that has proper buildup and peaks and he spazzes and everything. Even though it's dope, as an album experience it becomes predictable.

Jan 17, 2022 i can't agree, arose in particular is one of em's best performances on a song. it's the only song on revival that's painful to listen to for the right reasons. castle and arose fit in awkwardly though because they're way too serious to fit the emotional arc of an album that has songs like framed and offended, which is why i'm convinced revival was originally a lot more serious and he added a bunch of s--- to lighten it up.
