Jul 21, 2021 Man it’s really tiring hearing this ‘poor content’ debate constantly. Partly because it’s not true, but also because it doesn’t really matter. She Loves Me is ANOTHER love song but I couldn’t care less because it’s sonically great. He could make another love song on his next album and as long as it’s great I couldn’t care less. I think the issue arise when he reuses content AND it sounds poor e.g. Tragic Endings — he can make as many songs on the same topic as he wants if it sounds good lol and aren’t most songs about money/drugs/sex/love anyway Plus, songs with no fresh content can be great when Em’s just goofing around. Tone Deaf is literally one of the best tracks on the album Em’s 20+ years deep into his career so not only is it unrealistic to expect new content every song, it’s unnecessary. Em has the license to just mess with flows/rhyming on his tracks because most of his valuable content is already out there. But we still get gems like Castle, Arose, Darkness etc. with new content/fresh takes.
Jul 21, 2021 What content lol most of it was very childish. And I understand it, he knew it was just a deluxe and didn't care about critics or sales.
Jul 21, 2021 We could fill this with the dumb s--- he said for laughs all over the album lol. And I like Side B, I just think he's having too much fun and it hurts his projects (like in Encore). Wish he took it seriously and made 10-12 mature tracks and dropped his best album in a long time. I like Em's fan side, but d---, keep it for one song not all over the project.
Jul 21, 2021 The guy is nearly 50 and is enjoying his rap more than ever but you think he’s “having too much fun” — that’s a strange take He doesn’t owe us anything lol you should appreciate that he’s still even releasing music
Jul 21, 2021 Rap is interesting when you think about it. MJ drops “Off the Wall”, “Thriller”, and toss in “BAD”. He was done after that. Certified. He didn’t have to prove anything else because he accomplished what needed to be done. Twice. Two classics. Back to back. Dudes like Em, Jay, Ye, etc drop multiple classics and they are told: “Do it again” Over, and over, and over again. One decent or bad album and everyone goes: “Fell off! Lame. Isn’t as good as his old sh*t.” The only expectation I seen is 50 Cent and....... I guess Pac and Big but that’s for obvious reasons. Why does Em have to keep trying to top 3 classics in a row? Why does he have to surpass his 99-2003 run? Yall might as well of told Kobe to “Do it again” when he dropped 81. Lol. End of my long rant. I just get tired of seeing that from all cases. Not jus with Em
Jul 21, 2021 My thing is this. Em will never top his 3 classics, and he doesn’t need to. My gripe with Em is he came out swinging so hard that it made his fall off even greater. I have never seen a artist of that caliber have that large of a fall off in quality of music and artistry ever more than Em did. It’s literally like he’s not even the same artist. His fall off wasn’t even gradual, it was over night.
Jul 21, 2021 I think some people (including myself to a degree) are too worried about "legacy" his classic albums are always gonna be there. like there's people that go "why is he still releasing music he should retire" but I don't see the problem if he wants to continue releasing more music Like obviously you can still critique it so he can make his projects better but sooner or later you have to realize that he's basically a completely different artist than he was 20+ years ago and he probably won't top the things you have immense nostalgia for "Ni**as want my old s---, buy my old albums"
Jul 21, 2021 Trust me I agree, it had great potential. And that’s why I say overnight. Because it’s not like his fall off happened over the course of a couple albums after TES, it literally happened half way through the album after. Like he’s not even same artist at all.
Jul 21, 2021 Yeah he definitely isn't the same idk if it was proof or the drugs/rehab h--- it might be a mixture of all three but it's crazy how much him and his style has changed over the years
Jul 21, 2021 Im not coming at you so don’t look at it that when I say this But, with the run he’s been on since 2018 can we talk about this supposed “Fall off”? “Relapse” “Recovery” “HTS” “MMLP2” “2014-2016 run” (Underrated era to me) “Revival” “Kamikaze” “MTBMB” “Side B” What exactly are people saying is the fall off? Is it his 2014-2016 run? The run with “Best Friend”, “Medicine man”, The Cypher, “Psychopath killers”, “All I think about”, “Vegas”, etc in it? I just need clarity on where did the fall off happen. I think a debate can be made now.
Jul 21, 2021 He’s had gems sprinkled throughout but not one of those albums you named are much above mediocre let alone great from a sonic standpoint.
Jul 21, 2021 Give this guy a medal. These are facts. But honestly speaking, I'm pretty sure all of us get those crazy warm, delightful emotions when you see your favourite artist topping the charts for a long time. Or when his creation is universally acclaimed. I can't explain it but I get ecstatic. I guess for y'all as well. So... While em really doesn't owe us anything... It'd be great to see him break the internet/drop a classic. It just feels so great.
Jul 21, 2021 I mean, I’ll give you “Revival” and “MMLP2” sonic wise. Even....... maybe “Recovery” But out of those 3 I see one bad album. And even then, he dropped that and came back with “Kamikaze” Same with “Encore” then came back with “Relapse”
