Jul 21, 2021 How can it be overrated when everyone s----s on it everytime it’s brought up? It eliminated all the sonic problems of Recovery, elevated his writing up to a standard never seen before & to compare it to Recovery is hilarious, it’s like 2 different people. The flow & delivery through most of Recovery was horrible to listen to. Biggest problems were keeping the pop ballad formula & track list sequencing being essentially mixtape level of incoherence.
Jul 21, 2021 I like the funny songs but he really only needs one or two if at all and I'm all for stupid lines as long as they're clever Like I think it's funny that those kinda nights had one of the craziest schemes on the album (the Cincinnati one)

Jul 21, 2021 I don't revisit MMLP2 much, not sure why because there are some great songs on there. Album as a whole is a little 'meh' for me.

Jul 21, 2021 Never seen much hate on MMLP2, it was also pretty succesful. I think Recovery sounds way better, he tried something weird with MMLP2 using beats with odd samples, he also had worse feats imo. I love the features on Recovery. I think Wayne killed it, Kobe killed it, and Rihanna and Em went number 1 for weeks. I just love it front to back tbh. Btw, hated those rap rock tracks from MMLP2.
Jul 21, 2021 I forget about that, shows you how much value it gives on a song where despite it being as clever as it is, the song itself is too bad to listen to it on that basis alone, which proves that wordplay should not take heed over sonics. Also proves how much the wordplay died down between MMLP2 to MTBMB doesn't it. People still claiming he’s on his rappity rap stuff but the quality/quantity has severely declined. The glimpses of greatness are for sure still in areas but the attention to detail, the quality & the sheer amount has declined. This is why I’d either want him to double down on it & show us a level of technical brilliance that surpasses MMLP2 & Campaign Speech levels or start making good music through & through, because bridging the gap between both just results in both camps wanting more at the end.

As much as I love the album it annoys me that with just a few really simple tweaks—changing the track list/removing a few fillers/switching songs from the deluxe/changing album title—people would be much more inclined to accept it as some of his best work. It’s a shame it’s under-appreciated because Em definitely ranks it as his 4th best. He put so much time into it. Too much probably.

Jul 21, 2021 Same, Don’t Front, Groundhog Day & Baby probably. I just find it hilarious how bad Stronger Than I Was is, I know Beautiful Pain would’ve absolutely blown if it was a single & promoted but again it’s a pop ballad so I’m not interested
