Jul 28, 2021 The thing with MMLP2 is it didn't feel like a focused album. A chunk of it is going for the Rick Rubin produced/Beastie Boys homage (Berzerk, Love Game, So Far...), a chunk is a continuation of Recovery's pop (Survival, The Monster. Headlights) and a chunk is more straight rap and kind of where I would have expected this album to go after Recovery (Rap God, Brainless, Evil Twin). Mix all of those with random attempts to pretend it's a continuation of MMLP, and the album just feels like it didn't have a great direction. It doesn't mean the album is bad. I definitely like more songs than I dislike. It's just tough for me to be in a mood where I want to play it front to back.
