Jul 28, 2021 I always liked Black Magic. Many people here didnt like it at first. But it’s great storytelling, paints a picture, and theres something about his voice in the last verse, so calm and unaffected despite what he is doing.. ”as i say farewell to the love of my life” etc..
Jul 28, 2021 I’ve always liked Black Magic, it’s the most focused with the theme out of all the cuts on Side B & has a great hook. The beat is pretty bad though.
Jul 28, 2021 i do think as far as late career em goes mtbmb is a solid album and exactly what 50 yr old em should be doing. Recovery sucks sans like two songs but it was a necessary step for his trajectory, BME always been complete trash. Shady XV might be worse than revival tbh. And let's not forget how terrible the Southpaw songs were lol. all in all 2010-2017 em was so, so bad. I'm surprised he recovered from that honestly.

Dude went from name dropping the hottest celebrities of the early 80s and 90s with outdated references over the most insanely outdated cringeworthy beats to being insanely current and modern I swear MMLP2 and revival articles could be read like "Shadys back and he's pulling all punches taking aim at David spade, kernel sanders, chubby checker, bill clinton, ICP and more over samples from The Rolling Stones, the strokes, and the Beatles." I remember finishing Kamikaze and thinking I'm never going to be able to enjoy s--- like so much better ever again lol.
