Feb 22, 2022 I'll crush you into oblivion if you talk about my wife like that again. But you know 2 billion year olds deserve love too! I'd hit
Feb 22, 2022 That's an interesting take. Agreed he sounded robotic on some parts on Lord Above but I'd say he sounded really good on b---/Adventures. I could be wrong but how I see it is that he's so bored of using the same flows throughout a song let alone album, he keeps switching s--- up. That iconic TES flow does shine through the cracks sometimes but he chooses to try different things instead. Under any case, his flows really changed for the good since the Shady XV era. Right for me still gives me nightmares lmao
Feb 22, 2022 Yeah I loved all the songs he went slower as of recent but it's still a creeping suspicion even though historically it's been pretty good. Very strange feeling to have. But it's a weird dilemma cause smoother flows is better for longevity but the spazzing s--- he does is really hype for the first handful of listens. Very interesting arc in terms of career and style, almost nothing like it.
Feb 22, 2022 I hope this is the type of s--- that reaches Em if he's so invested in YouTube reactions instead of Stevie Knight or No life Shaq. Dude is so focused on trying to get the best YouTube reactions that he's all about dad jokes now instead of bringing back some nuance in his writings.
Feb 22, 2022 I mean his fast flows can be enjoyable as well given he's not overdoing it. His flow on chloraseptic remix near the end starting from: "How many f---in rappers did I go through........" still hypes me up. GNAT sounded good too though he wasn't saying much. Sonically he's made a lot of improvements since revival, I just wish he sticks to smooth flows and less puns.
Feb 22, 2022 Yeah I relistened to revival recently and the strides that have been made are astronomical, and the fact that it's still not to some people's liking yet proves how had revival really was lol. But either way yes sounding much better and I'm excited to see where he goes from here cause he seems aware about everything at least judging from the lyrics on the parables verse.
Feb 22, 2022 Do y'all think he could have another big "era" so to speak, or are you just waiting for him to get back on track so he can put out a classic retirement album? There's '99 to '04 which is undeniable and then he was on the radio a lot in the early 2010s, at least where I'm from
Feb 22, 2022 I think what people fail to understand when making this argument is that Em puts in a lot of efforts with lyrics as compared to other aspects of his music. And when he props up himself as this lyrical rapper but has extremely bad lines, people are bound to point it out. It's not that he ruins the song with a bad line, it's that when someone who's rightfully considered the best ever to do it lacks the self awareness to eliminate such lines, one is bound to highlight it more.
Feb 22, 2022 I'm glad he bounced back from revival with kamikaze fr, if he had put out 2 stinkers in a row, I don't know what would've happened. I like mtbmb a lot too but I got this problem that I see most people having, which is that eminem can't seem to put out decent or ok albums for people, it's either a classic or it's just trash, idk if you can even understand what I'm trying to say, I feel like my english's broken today
Feb 22, 2022 I mean a classic largely relies on public perception so it would have to be "big" but I don't want to be too ambitious. I just want him to tick a couple of boxes and make a thematic and a nuanced album. Side A was really good. Anything better than that and more coherent is a W in my book.
Feb 22, 2022 Kamikaze and MTBMB have been definite improvements over Revival. But I can't say i've seen many people call anything that Em has dropped in the last 10 years a classic. You have to take what others say with a grain of salt because if you only read Eminem forums and Youtube comments all you're going to see is "this album trash" or "this is a masterpiece". But if you have actual conversations with people you will see that it's not just black and white. Kamikaze and MTBM are decent albums. Neither bad nor great imo. But they are huge improvememts over Revival. And I think everyone can a agree to that aside from Joey lol. Personally, in terms of albums I think it has been an upward slope since Revival. Revival being the worst and MTBMB Side B being the best imo. There are still improvements to be made for me to be able to call it a great album but he's getting much closer. Next album could be the one if he continues this trajectory.
Feb 22, 2022 Every single song on MMLP is a 10/10 except for Amityville… and even that song is a 9/10 at least
Feb 22, 2022 Completely agree with the whole thing other than side b being the best, but that doesn't matter, that's subjective Here's hoping the next one is finally it
Feb 22, 2022 I think he needs to keep the dad jokes for the funny songs only. Or make a serious album, that would be dope.
Feb 22, 2022 idgaf if it's corny or not, I like that "You goin' die a ball licker, I've been diabolical" in legacy
Feb 22, 2022 His wordplay definitely peaked on MMLP2. The writing is so slick. He improved greatly from Recovery in that aspect but has since devolved into some pretty terrible punchlines littered everywhere. Complain about the beat selection/flows etc. — but the writing on MMLP2, in general & all things considered, is comfortably better than any project since TES.
