Feb 23, 2022 Nah He lost credit for me. I still don’t know how he guessed that SuperBowl sh** so I’ll give him credit for that. But that’s where is stops.
Feb 23, 2022 “Recovery” yelling and “Kamikaze” yelling are vastly different. It’s like a different artist from “Recovery” to “Kamikaze”
Feb 23, 2022 @fromconnecticut probably gonna come back next week and say the flow on revival gives off strong MMLP 1 vibes
Feb 23, 2022 Well you must be deaf then, listen to the Lord Jamar diss part in Fall or the whole song, or Stepping Stones, Venom, or the entire album except for the fast parts lol Oh s---t you're deaf you can't listen to it, my bad. nvm
Feb 23, 2022 The production is not good enough except for a few songs to call this classic, a classic has something sonically different
Feb 23, 2022 Perhaps we should come to grips with the fact that Eminem is an artist with unmatched skills who knew exactly what he wanted from 1999 to 2003 and then he got lost between expectations, his own personal struggles and 'where do I go from here'. Which is always very hard, specially when he had accomplished pretty much everything at that point, in very few years. I always like to compare Eminem to Michael Jackson because I see so many similarities between the two. It's crazy. Arguably, a lot of people say the same about Michael Jackson and his first 3 album streak Off The Wall + Thriller + Bad, the holy trinity. People say he changed his sound and he lost some of that grooviness and funkiness after that. The 'black' sound, if I may call it that. Coincidentally or not, Dr. Dre was heavily involved during Em's first 3 albums (obviously, not including Infinite here) as much as Quincy Jones was involved in MJ's first 3 albums. They were young and they were having fun, because they were fun. Which is why I think it's also imperative to analyze artists within the context of their own lives. What was going on at each particular time or era. It is not -I think- a coincidence the fact that both Em and Michael started to go through some very heavy personal s--- after the immaculate first 3 album saga. Em was dealing with a lot of stress after 8 Mile, getting deeper and deeper into sleeping pills which only got worse after Proof's death, which might be single-handedly the most determinate factor and what made his music change so much apart from getting older. Michael, on the other hand, started getting all these child molestation cases thrown at him (which by now have all been discredited and proven to be sought after his money) which ruined his life and led him to become more and more dependant on pain killers. So, obviously, these things f--- with your mind and change the way you make music.
Feb 23, 2022 Well, it's also about the beats. Fall had a calm, less flamboyant, less noisy, simplistic beat. Take a song like Cold Wind Blows, I can agree Em's shouting on that is not widely different from the part you mentioned on Fall, but the beat gives that noisy, shouting, loud vibes on Cold Wind Blows (and many other Recovery songs ) It's also a bit about the mixing. In overall, Kamikaze songs sound a lot more chill compared to shouting Recovery ones. Only songs he managed to sound cool were Going Through Changes and Seduction (maybe there are few more) on Recovery.
Feb 23, 2022 Insinuating Stepping Stones gives Recovery vibes is two levels more ridiculous than saying Kamikaze gives Recovery vibes. Seriously, WTF? HE is deaf? How?
Feb 23, 2022 Which it comes to the terms that Eminem probably has nothing else to say anymore… if you think about. This is why he’s more focused on the technical side of rapping now. I think he’s just tryna have fun again. If he writes a few garbage lines (dad jokes) and wasn’t being serious when he wrote it, would it be fair to actually critique it? He’s said time and time those corny lines he writes, he does it to get a reaction. But we all know he can really rap & I think he knows that so he just shoves it down our throats 24/7. I enjoy his technical style of rapping. I don’t listen to his newer albums as something to turn up to or to listen to hear about his daily life. I know he’s just gonna rap my ears off and I’m fine with it.
Feb 23, 2022 “I don’t know what to eat… the f---ing microphone or the beat!” “They said I was a gimmick now I’m the one that those guys mimick” - Eminem, Don’t Front such an underrated song
