Mar 15, 2022 Let's do some math: While platforms have their own sale equivalent, a 2018 article says 1250 streams (from a paying listener) is an album sale. 1250 times 100,000 = 125,000,000. Let's say the album is 16 tracks longer, a little bit longer than typical. 125 million / 16 tracks is 7,812,500. 8 million plays per track on a 16 track album, all within a week. Remember, this is a generous estimate based on paying listeners. No independent artist is doing that. Even Chance the Rapper BARELY hit the 100k mark with 108k first week, with 27k coming from pure sales. Nobody except huge artists like Drake, Kanye, & The Weeknd are actually going to be able to hit 100k by streams alone.
