May 17, 2022 I guess they might announce it Friday. They are pretty quiet considering it's in less than 10 days.
May 17, 2022 Considering the kind of album it is and the fact that it has no physicals or bundles it's sold a good bit
May 17, 2022 Kanye and Drake didn't have physicals or bundles either I think Kanye dropped them after.
May 17, 2022 Kanye did concerts for promo tbf & Drake makes playlist songs which is very valuable in the streaming era, abstract albums usually don’t fair well in this climate so it’s a big achievement if it reaches those kind of sales.
May 17, 2022 I agree with this except it's hard to call it an abstract album when it's Kendrick Lamar. Like yea, it's a bit more abstract, but it's Kendrick. Gospel albums don't sell for s---, but when Kanye drops a gospel album it's going to sell because it's Kanye.
May 17, 2022 Which obviously won't happen unless Em retires/dies SSLP Expanded was nice even if it didn't feature any new songs.
May 17, 2022 Yeah, Kanye was great at creating hype for Donda it also did better than I expected. Drake is the one who didn't do s---. He promoted it in 2020 but had to push it back to 2021 and he just dropped it.
May 17, 2022 It’s as abstract as TPAB imo. The constant production changes, formats of songs are all over the place. It may not be a heavy jazz-sounding influence, but the writing, the cadences & delivery are all unconventional & even when there’s conventional elements in certain songs, they’re usually surrounded by abstract elements too, making them “unfriendly” for radios/playlists (casual listener bases). GKMC & d---. were much more accessible. Also, Jesus is King sold much, much less than any other Kanye albums, Donda has already overtaken it & that was a polarising album in itself.
