May 18, 2022 Judging from Side A and B, Eminem is hungry to make music but has no real sense of direction. I’m hopeful he will release soon, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s stuck on even finding a narrative/direction and won’t drop for years. Who knows
May 19, 2022 I think if he wants to make art as influential as someone like Kendrick. He needs to be as vulnerable as he was during his early career. The best artwork comes from a place of vulnerability. Eminem is at least still super self aware which has been good, but there’s rarely any passion. Only on the highlights of the albums
May 19, 2022 Art is very much subjective but I'm confident saying Em makes objectively worse art. You can enjoy it more absolutely but the amount of effort put into the concepts of projects between the two artists are actually incomparable.
May 19, 2022 Different areas of expertise. Em is better and more focused on wordplay and the technical aspect of putting words together than he is on building an actual concept and having substance. So it's true that Kendrick has better "art". But It's not to say Em doesn't put as much effort into those things as Kendrick does. He literally lives in the studio. Kind of pointless to compare these 2 artists as they are both great in their own right but have completely different backrounds and different styles. We also have to remember that Em's career spans since 1996 and Kendrick 2011. So they are in two different spots. Let's see where Kendrick stands in 15 years and if he's as creative with concepts as he is right now.
May 19, 2022 Yeah that's why I specifically said the effort in executing concepts. I agree with them being incomparable in their approach, which is why it's been so annoying to see the constant comparisons I mean I get it's an Eminem forum but g.d. lol. Interested to see where Kendrick goes artistically but chances are we aren't getting that anytime soon so in the meantime I hope we do get a couple really really solid Em projects, fingers crossed the next one is great cause I'm really hoping it is!
