Jun 2, 2022 it's just called it cause it sounds cool, cause it used to be 3D audio, then it turned to 4D audio, and then 8D audio was when it finally "caught on" so to speak I think you'll still occasionally find bs like 16D audio or 32D audio where it's just literally the same as 8D or like there's even more bs thrown into the mixing process
