Jun 8, 2022 Relapse is a great artistic way of expressing the nightmare of addiction and everything that came with It for him. For example, he said that he was hungry all the time (and thus he ended up fat); On Relapse, we have references to great hunger all the time but It is done in an artistic way through a convention - on the record he turns into a hungry canibal. It is a horror-core after all.
Jun 8, 2022 "Nightmare" is a great word for it. Even now, Relapse helps keep that nightmare alive for me, important because I don't want to forget how bad it was. That memory helps keep me clean. My Darling from the deluxe version is a great representation of lots of parts of addiction, and my favorite track from Relapse... that rattling cage where you lock your addict up, constant background noise because it's always trying to break out. The gunshots, the chainsaw... mayhem Relapse helps me stay clean more than Recovery, but I never would have kicked without these albums.
