Jun 20, 2022 It's just another missed opportunity from Em, I think. Just like EPMD. Instead of using those chances to be more poetic he went for silly bars and empty content. Being on a track with Nas for the first time should have been epic, but it turned out to be a forgettable song. Same with the King and I. I expected something more personal, comparing rock to rap, two white dudes who took over each genre, the controversy, etc. I fell in love with Em's music because it used to be edgy but smart, poetic and daring, angry yet introspective. Nowadays it's very hard to find something that'll make you think and reflect in his music.
Jun 20, 2022 At least he competed properly with Tech, so that was a good collab. Next collab with Tech should be something like Fragile though.
Jun 20, 2022 I agree. He’s clearly in a creative slump right now but at least the redeeming quality of his performance in this latest song is he sounds like he’s awake again, there’s energy in his delivery & a bounce, something that was absent in a lot of material that has dropped post-Side A. But he really needs to channel some new creative energy with his writing because it’s borderline boring at this point.
Jun 20, 2022 If you want rappers to rap about mature s--- 24 f---ing 7 then listen to a gospel rapper…. Eminem might not be for you… Or go listen to his other half of his discography that is plenty mature… do I want a couple songs on his new album that’s mature? Sure. But I wanna hear him bar mf out in 2022…
Jun 20, 2022 The problem isn't that it's goofy the problem is that it's almost exclusively goofy, like Kendrick saying "HUUUUU" on a track is fun but it's also surrounded by a well written concept on the rest of the album.
Jun 20, 2022 You guys say the same s--- every time people critique a clear problem Eminem currently has. He was never mature before the relapse neither, but he could still write insightful, thought-provoking content even if it’s not socially conscious, he can still be introspective about his past & his current life, talk about f---ing comic books if you like, just be inspired. Right now he talks about NOTHING. That’s the problem. Relapse has a cult following because it is something, it has a purpose. Revival had ‘mature’ elements & it was absolutely garbage. SSLP had cartoonish immature tropes all over it & it’s arguably a classic. Stop this strawman bs. It’s not about maturity, it’s about content & I feel like you all know this, you just can’t accept valid criticism about someone you glorify.
Jun 20, 2022 Eminem did what he had to do, he has songs where he f---ing kills it, he can do whatever type songs he wants now, he’s earned it and he don’t give a f--- what you got to say
Jun 20, 2022 Said all of this when Side B came out. His absolute obsession with s-----y puns is watering down his music so much. Sonically he's been much better on recent albums but how many times are we gonna hear about how long his paper is and how he's the best rapper etc. I don't think he EVER mentioned how much money he had prior to MTBMB, since then he's probably mentioned it about 10 times which is just bizarre and forced. Actually the only time I can ever recall him talk about money was on Revelation "made my first million and counted it, now look it, a f---ing dropout that quits stupid as s--- rich as f--- and proud of it". Funny, introspective and thought provoking. Something he sorely lacks these days. He desperately needs a creative spark. There's probably nothing of note going on in his life but surely he can muster up some new ideas and concepts.
Jun 20, 2022 He’s definitely the MOST critiqued artist out right now If I wanna hear him talk about his life I can go back to his older music where he spills his heart out for everybody If I wanna hear him body people I can go back to his older music, or go to Kamikaze If I wanna hear him rap about his drug addiction I’ll go to Recovery If I wanna hear him on drugs I’ll go to Encore lol My point is he’s got SO much different moods and styles to choose from which already makes him top 5 dead or alive, he doesn’t have much to prove You guys get your hopes up when you want a certain style cause he’s got many and mad when he uses the wrong one lol Does he do corny s---? YES BUT HE ALWAYS HAS THOUGH
Jun 20, 2022 It's possible Em feels like he made an effort he really cared about -- at least conceptually, subject-wise -- with Revival, and had that sincere attempt smacked down at every turn, so his current mindset is "f--- you, Stan. Gonna phone in whatever swill I d--- please and f--- all y'all all the way to the bank." There's such a double standard. Stan wants human authenticity and emotion, and they want a superior product every time. Em is just one guy. Does anybody even care what else was going on in his life at the time that he dropped Revival? Or care why to this day he cares enough to continue to defend it? Or why the s-----y relationship love songs multiply as time goes on? He sits on s----tons cash and power, but Em is just a guy. He's got limits. He's got a breaking point. For his own sake I wish he would've cut the cord with Stan after Recovery. I hope he retires. Stan is the worst toxic relationship Eminem has.
Jun 20, 2022 If you want Em to bar mf out in 2022, you can go back and listen to Kamikaze, MTBMB Side A and MTBMB Side B. I don't need Em to go back 100%. I want a new Em with a mix of both. I don't need Em to be dissing rappers and celebrities all the time. Just reflect on life (his or in general), give us something to think about. If he can't find topics about his own life, because he feels like he has already addressed everything, then talk about different events going on in the world. That should give him plenty. But not using the already worn out double/triple entendres just for reaction videos (which I do enjoy but it's been 4 years of using his music to get Youtubbers to react in silly ways, which ultimately helps him promote his music, he doesn't promote himself).
Jun 20, 2022 I get what you’re saying but he probably has nothing to say about his life anymore. He’s probably secluded in his house and doesn’t go anywhere. The most he could probably say is that he fell off a bike during Covid lmao
Jun 20, 2022 Obviously if his next album is inspired by something and the content/music is great and simmers down on the lyrical miracle s--- then I’ll be fine with it. It’s just when he does too much rapping people get at him for no reason
