Aug 11, 2021 No, he just technically way ahead of the version he was 20 years ago. Rap God is a timeless track that will never get old , just because of how well that track is done and memorable it is. It has all his skills from every era of rapping and shows how far he has taken rapping and his art to a new level. Gnat and Godzilla is similar for me too, not as good but the rhyme schemes, the hooks and how free flowing it is l, just makes it all stand out. No other rapper making music like that, which I feel he doesn’t get credit for. People think because he is technical and rapping fast, that he is not saying anything. But he is, and that’s what makes him stand out to any rap artist is how he has mastered the art of rap. I understand why people don’t like the current Version of Em as they can’t catch everything or they want the Eminem from 20 years ago where it feels like he is talking to you but he has clearly moved on from that and chooses not too because, one he has all ready done that and was music from 20 years ago, two he has evolved so much from that kind of music. Sure there will be certain tracks where he will switch it up and basically rap smooth, throwback to 20 years, talk to the listener and when that happens, it will mean more and stand out as a special track.

Aug 11, 2021 Your argument doesn’t hold weight as we don’t know if 20 years after these songs were released whether you’ll still be ‘dissecting’ them. I know he’s more technical than ever & I like the stuff, but the argument of the old stuff not having replay value anymore compared to his new stuff, is just a testament to their respective ages, they’re incomparable for now. There is plenty of rappers with his current style, now & in the past. If he was to come out without his back catalogue, he’d be an underground MC that most of the people in here would never hear. He hasn’t evolved, he’s just changed.
Aug 11, 2021 Well songs like Lose Yourself, Till I Collapse and Sing For The Moment is timeless to me, that is nearly 20 years old. I just feel his zany material back then just doesn’t hold up or impressive to how he has been since 013. Mainly because he was playing off a character most of the time and the rapping is cool but not nearly as impressive as he is now. Recovery is way outdated to me because of the style, rapping and overuse of punchlines. Even the serious content of that album sounds outdated because mainly the rapping is just meh. Relapse he is Playing off a zany character too but the music doesn’t feel old because of how different it is. It’s his own thing and that’s why it Will never feel old because of the beats, rapping and uniqueness of that album. Feels like Eminem.
Aug 11, 2021 Have you not noticed that the more material he puts out, the more outdated each post-hiatus project becomes?
Aug 11, 2021 I relistened searching for said lines. And i literally couldnt find a single weak line. Stans trying to downplay how perfect old em was is sad Walking like a midget with a ladder in his back pocket man theres no repeating old Em
Aug 11, 2021 Also. I think ppl focus on bad lines if the overall song is bad. I dont mind the s--- clog line on bad guy part 2 because the song is perfect
Aug 11, 2021 Dont see that with other artist tbh. Yeezus is filled w lame lines even if its musically great
Aug 11, 2021 This is the point I keep conveying. People hyper-focus on the writing nowadays because he’s sacrificing the sound for his punchlines which the majority are a---. But to say people didn’t focus on his writing back then is ahistorical, there was just much less to critique.
Aug 11, 2021 Ayo, I just want to put this out there: "Y'all don't need to downplay old Em's talent and impact just in order to praise current Em." Edit: And current Em is f---ing great too, don't misinterpret me.
Aug 11, 2021 Current Em forgot how important sound is, he needs to make something enjoyable and that people will want to listen to over and over again
Aug 11, 2021 True You also don’t need to downplay Em’s talent right now just because his music isn’t as good as his prime “Old Em good, New Em bad”. i.e. tell me you’re simple-minded without telling me your simple-minded
Aug 11, 2021 I hope she recovers quickly, terrible that this happened again. As much as we all hype up and praise Em’s prime, I’m sure that time was likely very traumatic for her with everything that happened.
