Aug 11, 2021 Well what happened after last time we had forest fires? A pandemic. I think alien invasion is next. #BlueBeam
Aug 11, 2021 Dinosaurs lived on earth for 165 million years before they went extinct. Humans been on earth for 6 million years and let's face it, we've only been living in this modern world for a couple hundred years. Cars, nuclear weapons, over-consumption, polution weren't a thing before that. So we single handedly managed to f--- up this planet in like 200 years. We probably deserve to die tbh.
Aug 11, 2021 This planet will probably be too far gone by the time we figure out a way to move out. We don't even know if it's possible to live on Mars yet let alone other planets. But bllionaires will probably find a way and leave the rest of us behind lol.
Aug 11, 2021 People have written 1000s of pages of theory explaining this but I'll try & sum it up & hopefully make it digestible: Class consciousness is the terminology used to describe the awareness of one's social or economic class of their position & interests within the structure of the economic order & social system in which they exist. Alternatively, false consciousness is viewing one's relationships to social & economic systems of an individual nature & a failure to see yourself as a part of a class with particular class interests relative to such order(s). False consciousness is the general view people have inherited in Capitalist societies, moreso since the dawn of Neoliberalism. Basically, understanding that class is merely divided by who owns the means of production/distribution & the workers themselves (reducing the focus on divisions of middle class & identity etc as that promotes class infighting). The system (Captialism - the reason 'we've' f----- the planet up in 200 years) only functions as long as the workers cannot recognise: 1. Their unity as a class of laborers 2. Their shared economic and political interests 3. The power inherent in their numbers Workers are exploited of their surplus value by default, it's how a business profits. If anyone would like to know more, they can DM me or open another OT thread because this definitely isn't related to Em lmao
Aug 11, 2021 That seems like a copy paste more than a translation in your own words So basically, being concious of your position in society. Pretty much what I assumed. Thanks
Aug 11, 2021 I don't know if that's a compliment or an insult? Lol. It's a static definition, it only adjusts when implemented based upon the material conditions of the socioeconomic condition & environment itself. If you want to devolve it down to that then yeah, it's your position in society. But it's much, much, much more complex than what's written above to grasp the concept as a whole; people spend their whole lives dissecting theory as such.
Aug 11, 2021 It's a compliment. The english used made me think it was a copy paste but your vocabulary is just way more advanced than mine lmao You sound like a philosopher
Aug 11, 2021 I'm on an Eminem forum I don't always bring out the big guns loool. Nah, I just read a lot, too much tbh. But, you've brought up a good point, this is one of the directly inherited problems with theory itself, it's unintelligible to so many people but it's almost impossible to dumb down without skewing definitions - it feels like learning a new language at times. All the phrases & terminology will fly over people's heads if they're not pre-adjusted to it. I, like others, need to figure out a way of conveying it in a more digestible form for the masses because not everyone wants to be a book-nerd.
