Aug 29, 2022 They’re all upsetting me Walkthrough! was nice but I never go back to it. Em used to have that replay factor that I haven’t found in his music for a few years now.
Aug 29, 2022 If those NFTs were something in the line of Z Gangsta's avi, I would probably think they are pretty cool but those ugly apes annoy the f--- out of me. Ape is the most irritating animal. Who in their right minds would like their virtual self to be a f---ing monkey. Plus: Godzilla > > > > > Kong.
Aug 29, 2022 Well, his delivery used to be groovier and more playful. Even when he was being serious as f---, it was playful. It had a lot more melody in his tone. More versatile. He also used to keep the same flow throughout the entire song. The verses used to be constant and slower. A couple of years ago I think I read an interview from Ed Sheeran saying he used to stutter a lot when he was a kid, but listening to Eminem he got over it. He loved Em's music because it was rap but he had great melodies while spitting. Or something along those lines. I don't think we can say anything like that anymore. And on top of that, he seems unable to discuss or come up with anything that's truly important or relevant. It's almost as if he's afraid to say something and get backlash, so he's playing it safe by talking about how good he is, how much money he has, whether he's top 5 or the goat, and how he wants all the smoke.
Aug 29, 2022 I think it boils down to him approaching rap as work vs. fun these days. Sacrificing sound for the being super technical. I think Tyler the creator said it best.
Aug 29, 2022 Unwilling, maybe, to reveal anything that isn't strictly superficial. I don't blame him for that.
Aug 29, 2022 I do. Because he claims to love this music and the craft. He claims to study the best. He pays homage to the ones who came before him. Well, Hip-Hop is a protest music first and foremost. Somewhere along the line it became a genre that talks about b------s and jewlery with a bunch of wannabes renting mansions and paying b------s to show off their a----s in the videos, when they're really not about that lifestyle nor do they have those houses. The ones Eminem respects the most, were not only talented flow wise, or lyrics wise... but stood for something. And Eminem used to stand for something. He wasn't afraid of s--- back then. Now he's scared of everything.
Aug 29, 2022 Eminem is an addict at heart. When you’re an addict, it’s hard not to be addicted to things. He was addicted to painkillers. Then, he got addicted to jogging. Now, he’s addicted to rhymes and syllables. It’s one addiction after another. These addictions make him very one track minded. I think now he may have a new addiction… embarrassing himself.
Aug 29, 2022 Curtain Call 2, anniversary albums, average features, The constant promotion of Detroit to LBC, NFTs… hopefully we’ve swept all this bs under the carpet now and can get back to expecting a new album
Aug 29, 2022 I know I joke around a lot in this thread, so let me state my Eminem opinions so Stanley’s don’t get too upset when I joke around: SSLP-TES are obviously classics, but they are also overrated. It concerns me how many people on this forum dickride his old music as if it was perfect when clearly songs like The Kids and Jimmy, Brian, & Mike show the opposite. Revival is a bad album, but people exaggerate the hate way too much. It’s not the worst rap album of all time. If you think that, maybe you should listen to more rap that isn’t Eminem. There’s some horrible s--- out there. His modern music is mostly mediocre with a lot of hidden gems mixed in. Modern Eminem’s biggest problem is his consistency. It’s pretty easy to see that the best songs always made his old albums, but with his newer albums, songs like Cocaine never get released even though it would’ve been the best song on Recovery. At the end of the day, I am an Eminem fan even if it doesn’t seem like it. A true fan will criticize someone when necessary. The moment you avoid criticizing them, that’s what makes you a Stan (well many other things to do too like constantly posting about how amazing old Eminem was and literally only posting in the Eminem section on a forum filled with a bunch of other threads). TLDR: Peoples’ opinions on Eminem are way too exaggerated on both ends of the spectrum.
Aug 29, 2022 I don't disagree. But I don't blame him for that fear. Hip hop is a different animal altogether now. Em's too big with too much staying power; he's outlived his own reach. He has too large a fan base to please most of them most of the time. He doesn't want to let anyone down, either. As he's aged his interests and subjects he wants to focus on have changed; he's not a broke kid from 8 Mile who keeps getting fired & robbed anymore. Nobody cares about the music he makes about the things he cares about. He doesn't fit hip hop anymore. I wish he'd retire. Not because I'm disappointed... but for his own sake. That degree of fame is worse than cancer.
Aug 29, 2022 I wish he was addicted to making good music again. 97-03 he was a different breed of greatness.
