Aug 24, 2021 Well, Nas one was the first interesting one in a long time other than Cudi who is not a rapper, and he f----- up so... And he already worked with the artists I wanted him to work with the most anyway.
Aug 24, 2021 Not sure what you consider big but there is not even a single song with less than 100 million streams, songs like Lucky You and Venom have at least half of million lol. If you don't consider that a blew up, I'm not sure if any rapper's album ever blew up lately besides Drake lol.
Aug 24, 2021 Em songs do great on the long run, but I don't think Kamikaze had hits outside of the Stan community.
Aug 24, 2021 Completely not true. You’re just making statements up now. Just because he won’t make pop songs with drake, lana, Rihanna or what ever artists you like and be played on radio 24/7 like it was 2010. Eminem is never selling again like he did a decade ago, no matter what he does. Get over it, enjoy the music or move on.
Aug 24, 2021 Just saying it didn't blow up, I liked it, and listened to it. Even though I think he's way better now (MTBMB + Side B )
Aug 24, 2021 You guys think hits equals to working with pop stars. His last big year was when MMLP2 dropped, and Rap God was one of the biggest songs that year, no pop sound or female hook. Most of Em's biggest songs are just him, and they are huge hits. What I'm saying is that he doesn't have big years or huge hits anymore, and that's obvious. It just makes me miss when he was bigger. I think the problem is that he sacrifices the sound, for the technique, and that hurts replayability and enjoyment a lot. Don't get me wrong, for a 50yo rapper he's doing great, he has a fan base that will keep on buying and streaming his s--- and going to his shows even if he doesn't do promo.
Aug 24, 2021 This is a little off topic but I listened to Stay Wide Awake again today and g.d. the flows and rhyme schemes in that song are d--- near immaculate
Aug 24, 2021 Funny too because that’s when people decided to get picky with his music. On my favorite album. Ha
Aug 24, 2021 This is where we have to delve into semantics now so I'm gonna ask you and @Z Gangsta what constitutes as a hit?
Aug 24, 2021 I 100% agree with you on him sacrificing sound for technicality but it seems to me like you only like music that gets mainstream attention. What does it matter to you how big he is? Do you listen to artists because of their popularity or because of their music? You said similar stuff leading to Loyd Banks dropping his album. You already had your mind made up on the album just because it wasn't "major".
Aug 24, 2021 I like music that stays around. But don't get me wrong, I enjoy Kamikaze and MTBMB + Side B (at least most of the songs). But we are talking about mainstream artists, so I like hits, the type of song that you can't get out of your head and hear everywhere. Em has the power to make those, but surprise releases ruin any chance of his songs getting big, they just do good in a long time. Banks album came and went as expected. That's not the Banks I liked, anyway.
Aug 24, 2021 You didn't answer my question though. What does it matter to you whether the song is commercially successful or not? Does it only become catchy to you when other people like it as well? Numbers and sales should only matter to the artist.
