Aug 24, 2021 Average person: "no one listens to eminem" stans: * pull out statistics like their lives depend on it *
Aug 24, 2021 You mean Eminem should go make a pop song with huge pop artists and try to create Love The Way You Lie a million times just so you can like it because it’s played everywhere and has more hits. You really think Em can’t do that if he wanted too? Of course he can, chooses not too. Rap God was the biggest song on MMLP2 despite The Monster Feat Rihanna, being played everywhere on rotation on every radio you can think of. Song was purely made to be a pop hit, made no sense being on MMLP2 but that’s for another day. End of the day, the quality of the music will speak for it self and good music will always win. You want Em to compromise his art for sake of a big song, just so you can like it. Makes no sense man.
Aug 24, 2021 I dont know the definition of it, but Godzilla is in the top 10 most streamed Eminemsongs, in the streaming era I would say that is a hit, Godzilla is top 10 along with Lose Yourself, Love the way you lie, the monster, rap god, without me, the real slim shady, etc Id say theres no doubt that Godzilla is a hit
Aug 24, 2021 Godzilla was big man, stop playing. 400 million views on youtube, what else do you want?
Aug 24, 2021 It kinda goes together. When something is catchy it blows up. Promo is obviously important too. Rockstar by DaBaby is a good example. It was mad catchy and it blew up and stayed around for a while. And I don't even like his music.
Aug 24, 2021 It doesn't feel as an Em hit imo. Compared to his older ones (Recovery - MMLP2 singles). But Stans all over the world will watch the video and stream the song obviously.
Aug 24, 2021 why do you want him to top the charts so bad? ^^ does it make you feel better/the music better?
Aug 24, 2021 lol it feels good, it means he dropped something good and people feeling it, not just as who will "like" almost anything he drops. It ain't even that hard, a normal release and his single will chart the highest he's charted in years. And the song will stay around for a bit. I want promo and hits like back in the days. I'm not saying that he will do that, I think he's at the end of his career and will just press upload and go back to his life. Rap hits are kinda over now too. Pop came back, just look at the charts. The only rappers in there are feats.
Aug 24, 2021 Disagree with at the end of his career and disagree that it means he dropped something good. Songs like Love The Way You Lie were chartbreakers, it doesnt make them "good". You're looking at this from the wrong perspective. I'd rather have him do what he wants and not be told "you need artist x to make a #1 chart single" like in the Recovery era
Aug 24, 2021 2 things I know some people hate LTWYL, but a lot of people love pop music and enjoyed it a lot. It was number one for weeks. I personally always wanted him to work with Rihanna and Beyoncé, since I think Jay's team was dope, but I never ever thought he would do it. And they even ended touring together. Also loved Recovery btw. And two, most of Em's big songs were just him, no feat or pop singer. Think about Rap God and how big it was, no pop singer or feat, just Em. But people also hate it cause there are some fast lines and pretend the whole song was rapping fast. If Wayne drops this, it's a classic, but when it's Em, people call it whack... it's one of my favorite Em tracks tbh. And popular as f--- too.
Aug 24, 2021 You just should let people talk and dont care too much about their opinions. I personally think he is going in the right direction since Kamikaze. Ofc a little bit more content would be great, but what else is there for him to talk about. I think we should just let him have fun with what he does, he has given us enough "content" and enough "hits" during his career.
Aug 24, 2021 I mean yeah, he's way past his peaks at this point, and it's cool that he keeps on dropping (even though I agree to an extent that it hurts his discography), I just miss the glory days, that's pretty much it. If he drops again and doesn't promote it at all like last time and it comes and goes it's cool, I'll still listen to it and enjoy it if it's good. Buy it too. So it's not that much of a big deal, just miss bigger days.
Aug 24, 2021 That still doesn't really answer the question Do you need something to be popular in order to like it? Because according to your logic only music that does big numbers can be good. You always use the popularity of the music to validate your opinion but never talk about how YOU feel about the music. Regardless of it's popularity. It's f---ing mind blowing.
Aug 24, 2021 What really kills me is that there are people out there who think lil baby and da baby and baby keem and lil uzi etc etc are better than Em. It’s so f-----.
Aug 24, 2021 Sometimes artists want and need to work with other artists outside their genre in order to expand and to try something different. Fresh air. It pushes them in other directions and explore other sides. It's a great thing. 50 worked with Justin Timberlake. People would murder Em if he did that and they'd say he's washed up. Even though JT is a great artist and performer. I'm sure Em would have wanted to work with Bruno Mars again a few years ago but he didn't because of the backlash, specially after Revival with pop guest artists. I'm not a big fan of love/relationship songs with female pop artists. But LTWYL was necessary for Em. Back in 2011 Eminem had almost literally everyone on his side. The rap culture was giving praises to him again. Pop fans were loving this new side of him. Even the press were saying great things, and were loving the fact he was owning his own mistakes and trying to show a more mature side. So, Love The Way You Lie and Not Afraid helped him get there. I personally dislike those songs and are skippers for me, but you get the point.
Aug 24, 2021 Personally I'd k--- for an Eminem & Damian Marley track. Jr. Gong (Damian Marley) always delivers. He always adds something unique to his songs. Whether it be on solo projects or collaborations. He's crazy talented (top lyricist, great melodies) and has made brilliant tracks across many genres: Reggae, Dancehall, Pop, Hip-Hop and even electro-oriented afrobeat ones. From Nas (if you haven't checked the Distant Relatives album you must do so now!), to Jay-Z, to Gwen Stefani, Bruno Mars, Skrillex, Joss Stone and Mick Jagger etc... he always shines.
Aug 24, 2021 Big budget music video and lots of mainstream promotion makes Marsh a happy boy low budget music video and no promotion makes Marsh a sad boy
Aug 24, 2021 Never said that. I love Side B and it has 0 hits. But I do miss when he was more popular and had big songs on the charts, that's true. This whole thing about droppig the album and disappearing just isn't for me.
Aug 24, 2021 People just hate pop, but 50 made classic hits with JT, Olivia, and Ciara for example. I love Not Afraid btw, and No Love and Spacebound.
Aug 24, 2021 You already know lol that Higher video was mid and MTBMB rollout is his worst ever lol, dude didn't even mention the album once until he got with Crooked for an interview months after lmao But I bet he will do it again, sounds comfortable as f--- for a 50 year old artist, someone uploads it and he goes back to his normal life, no interviews, performances or anything at all lol, didn't even have to tour thanks to Covid.
