TikTok worsened this situation even more since every other musician tries getting big on TikTok now. First week sales will eventually get so low that we don’t pay attention to them anymore. That’s one of the reasons why the amount of streams garnered is so emphasized now, they will be the future metrics used. No artist will ever get near Michael Jackson level famous or even Eminem level famous ever again unless a miracle happens, that is next to impossible in today’s climate. All these internet numbers can be faked though, I think what’s more important is how many a----s an artist can put in seats at their shows. You can have 1 million followers and only have a few people show up to your concert. Unless major changes happen, music sales are going to be very, very grim in the future.
