Feb 7, 2023 Can't have a debate without acting like a spoilt little brat and getting personal. Forum be better off without you, seriously. Judgemental, know it all. I listen to lots of of music outside top 40 so what is exactly your point? Go and have another tantrum and come back saying sorry, I’m not being serious and all that BS.
Feb 7, 2023 Hahahahahahahaha looks like you’re the one having a tantrum now. It’s not that serious buddy calm down and take a breath
Feb 7, 2023 I like modern hip-hop, but that doesn't mean the genre isn't dying. I even like some modern rock, but both of those genres are almost dead these days.
Feb 7, 2023 I’d love to know your definition of dying. Metro Boomin, Nicki Minaj, and other rappers are all over the US Billboard Hot 100 charts, so hip hop isn’t dead popularity wise. Hip hop is more diverse and versatile now than ever with sub-genres from gangsta rap to pop rap and everything in between all being able to thrive at the same time. Jersey club rap is even becoming big right now. And all other popular types of music right now take inspiration from hip hop… so not dead on the creativity front either. Hip hop isn’t just a music genre, it’s a culture and a lifestyle. For you to say that it’s dying is completely ignorant and comes from a place of disconnection from the culture entirely.
Feb 7, 2023 I listen to Juice WRLD, Lil Uzi Vert, DaBaby, Polo G, Migos, Travis, Kendrick, Jack Harlow etc. is this a long enough list? 3-4 years ago it seemed to me that hip-hop is experiencing a new heyday, but over the past couple of years I have realized that this is a new death of the genre.
Feb 7, 2023 I still don’t understand why you think hip hop is dying. Music as a whole has been having a lot of issues since COVID, not just hip hop. A lot of big, genre-defining artists still haven’t dropped yet, but there is some great stuff in the underground and indies right now. We need Travis, Thug, Uzi, Doja, Carti, etc. to drop their albums already
Feb 7, 2023 I didn't say that hip-hop got worse. hip hop is basically dead and now it's a different genre of music.
Feb 7, 2023 That’s your opinion I guess. Black Thought’s new album was as vintage hip hop to me as it gets. Some of Joey Bada$$ too. Pusha. I could go on. Oh well, agree to disagree.
Feb 7, 2023 I’m just giving y’all the energy you gave me first lol if you don’t like it that’s on you.
Feb 7, 2023 Never listened to all of it but Heavy was decent and One More Light is great, especially their live performance Chris Cornell tribute of it. Hybrid Theory and Meteora are definitely worth listening to if you're ever in the mood for that kind of music.
Feb 7, 2023 I don't think it's gonna be a boring year for music, but if we're talking Hip Hop, yeah, most likely. Just like last year.
Feb 7, 2023 I feel like there was a good mixture of underground and mainstream hip-hop that had good projects last year, I do agree that a lot of the music I'm interested in releasing rn though isn't rap.
