Feb 11, 2023 As a huge fan of both jay z is way way way more overrated than em is. Jay can be extremely boring at times, sure hes got lots of dope songs and some great albums but his highs are nowhere close to ems highs. Basically every top tier artist in the goat convo has some bad albums and songs, yet em is the only one who gets s--- on. Em, jay and nas are 3 of my all time favorites and id argue all day jay is 3rd place out of the 3 of them.
Feb 11, 2023 That’s because Jay-Z and Nas’s recent output have made up for the duds they’ve put out in the past. Eminem never really redeemed himself for Revival. Kamikaze was cool for a couple of days but made him look bitter and out of touch. MTBMB is decent but nothing remarkable compared to what other rappers/his peers are putting out right now. His recent string of features isn’t really helping his case either.
Feb 11, 2023 The way I see it is pretty much all mainstream artists are inevitably overrated, so I don’t see the point in harping on who’s more overrated than who. Maybe you’re right though, maybe Jay Z is more overrated. I haven’t listened to Jay Z’s whole discography, so I can’t fully judge. Em is overrated and overhated at the same time. He’s held under a microscope more than most artists ever will be. To be fair though, he brings a lot of that hate onto himself. He purposely uses lots of corny lines, he’s called out people who didn’t deserve it, he’s said a lot of things that are offensive to people, etc. That type of s--- will make a lot of people hate him regardless of the quality of his music. He’s said he even uses that hatred as fuel. So it’s kinda hard to feel sorry for Em when he complains about the hate he gets
