Jul 15, 2023 There’s more to producing than just beat making. There’s arrangements, conducting & mixing — that is responsible for the majority process of a successful song. How come these people he works with struggle to make the same caliber of production without him if he’s not heavily involved in the process? Even the vocal production & engineering on artists that feature on his projects are 10x better than on their own s--- for this reason. It’s weird that people dismiss his work like this, plenty of stuff to critique Dre for, holding back his & others’ releases, but not this. This is how producing works outside of hip hop too. A beat maker being the producer is quite a unique phenomenon in hip hop & is also why a lot of songs sound awful. You wouldn’t say Rick Rubin wasn’t a producer because Flea played the bass guitar on the track, would you?

Jul 15, 2023 Donda is Kanye’s Revival. Off the Grid sticks out as audible because everything else around it is pure dogshit so it elevates it by default, but on its own it’s nothing special at all. It’s a Fivio song with a generic drill beat, absolutely awful hook, Carti sounding like an autistic child & Kanye rambling absolute nothings for like 40 bars. Shouldn’t make it past the cutting floor & wouldn’t if this was 2000s Ye.
