Aug 19, 2023 Not specifically talking about you, or even @Ripper Roo . Its just here I'm not used to people constantly mentioning skin colour in situations where it's not relevant at all.
Aug 19, 2023 Yeah it really is. Ony where you have to describe someone its usual of course but other than that it isn't.
Aug 19, 2023 Same people post memes about not seeing colour cause theyre not racist, meanwhile they obsess over it
Aug 19, 2023 Yes, some people in America are obsessed with race, but race is still important here. The United States was always advertised as “the melting pot” of races and cultures. This caused a lot of immigrants that we still get today. The US is one of the most racially diverse countries in the world. Race has been used to belittle people here from the jump, especially with our systems being built off of and used to exploit black people (things like slavery) and other minorities. With these things in mind, it’s hard to ignore race in the US. Our differences when it comes to race and culture bring us together, and when people say they “don’t see color” that can feel like blatant oblivion that ignores those good differences and also ignores the way race has been used against people for so long. This type of dynamic also causes a lot of racial jokes like the ones you saw earlier (which really was just criticizing the different types of generic, boring people of each race and not the actual races themselves). Yes, some people here take the race thing too far. Some white people feel guilty about being white and kiss the a--- of every black person. Some minorities use their race to feel entitled to crazy things. I’m not saying this is your situation, but when someone lives in a country where most people around them are the same race as them, of course it’s easy to ignore skin color
Aug 19, 2023 That prediction doesn’t count. They really waited until the last Friday of the month to predict that?
Aug 19, 2023 I don't really disagree w this but like @Lucifer said its the people that complain about racism the most (which I understand) that in their next post mention 'white girls' or 'black people'. Of course there are cultural things, sure. And its okay to talk about that. But if we ever want to be treating eachother as people instead of black people/white people, gay people/straight I think its a good start to just stop mentioning it in cases where its not relevant.
