Sep 15, 2023 His longest hiatuses have been before Relapse, MMLP2, and Revival, one of which is a masterpiece, one of which is decent, and one of which sucks. The wait for the masterpiece was prolonged mostly because of drug addiction, so it kind of doesn't count. Given the density of lyrics and variety of sounds on MMLP2, I assume it just took him a while to get it right, at least in his mind. And Revival is such a mess that I can only imagine he and his boys were very unsure of what to do and hemmed and hawed and kept trying to rework something that was a bad egg from the beginning, either that or he had an entirely different album which he scrapped first. So this time, it could be an equally good or bad sign, but I lean toward bad. He works best when he works quickly.
