Nov 9, 2023 I wouldn't say hardly anyone, well, anyone with any taste thinks 'more songs = better album'. I think part of Em does though. He typically would always maximise the space on a CD. Which screams... no real goal, he's using the CD like a hard drive, tryna just fit as much on there vs. having a vision or a story or using any restraint or vision. And same with tryna 'balance' albums like he said he tried to do with 'Revival' to 'give something for everyone' which is the antithesis of an artistic statement. That's f---ing anti-art. He's viewing it like a f---ing product, which I know it ultimately is, but he an artist shouldn't be treating it like that; he will sell if it's good. But he still does that with every album too 'I need a song for women, I need a song for this, a song for that'. He doesn't seem to realise MMLP was so brilliant because of how UNbalanced it was. It was an uncompromising, relentless aesthetic. Well, I say he doesn't. He hasn't realised that. But, thankfully, he has now. Can't wait for 'marshall mathers III'.

Nov 9, 2023 Starting to wonder if these doubters are working for Shady Records. Most of them just signed up, but they "remember when I talked about Revival" .. I confirmed most features from Revival months before it was released and not one person even apologized. Lets go back to 2009 though when I leaked the entire Refill album or when my partner Katashi went lengths to get the MMLP2 exclusive. Its just a bunch of trolls working together to discredit me. Why do they spend so much effort by making Reddit threads and twitter posts just to tell people not to trust me? Are they paid by Paul?? I try to ignore it but it does piss me off that these people wanna k--- everyone's excitement. I try really hard not to spoil any of the albums content for respect to the Artist. Whats the point though if my name and word is at stake too? Should I just drop everything I have?
Nov 9, 2023 It’s because Eminem doesn’t have balls anymore. Art is naturally divisive, not everyone is gonna like it no matter how “balanced” you try to make it and no matter how hard you try to appease everyone. Eminem used to say actual divisive things with real points behind them. Now he says generic offensive things for shock value and social media buzz. If some bad thing happens in the world you can bet he’s gonna have some stupid throwaway line about it that makes no actual point or has any wit whatsoever

Nov 9, 2023 Agreed 100% He tries way too hard to please everyone which actually backfires cause his albums aren't well received. I feel like proof dying had a negative impact in the way he approaches his lyrics. For example in the Relapse booklet he says "proof i spazzed on em" or something along those lines. I feel like proof had a big influence on the type of offensive stuff "slim shady" was saying. I mean drug use probably also helped him be more free and less worried about what hed say. Just feels like now hes trying too hard/being careful with what hes saying. Rather than just letting his mind flow and letting it out.

Nov 9, 2023 That makes sense. Proof’s death definitely affected him and his music in a lot of ways. Ironically enough I think Relapse was the last time the offensive s--- truly worked because he fully leaned into the character. Nowadays he’s so in and out of the Slim Shady character that the offensive lines often seem random and out of place. But that just goes back to him not having balls anymore, he only halfway commits to the bit now due to a lot of what we’re talking about here like being careful with what he says and wanting to please everyone… and sensitive listeners are part of that crowd that he’s worried about pleasing.
Nov 9, 2023 Maybe because he's at a different stage of his life where is doesn't feel the need to get angry at everything and just wants to have fun and enjoy the end of his career. I think his new stuff is great but hey I guess that's subjective. At the end of the day he's the 9th best selling artist of all time so he's doing something right.
