Dec 18, 2023 I wish Juice WRLD was still alive. Same with xxxtentacion, I wore one of his shirts today.
Dec 18, 2023 Eminem was the perfect feature for this Juice WRLD song. It’s so weird to hear Juice WRLD rap about doing drugs after he passed away from them so having Eminem offer the opposite perspective makes it work. I almost see Eminem’s verse as what Juice would say if he came out the other side of the addiction alive. Juice was fighting the same demons Em did. It’s crazy to think there’s a world where Eminem would’ve died from drugs and not be able to tell the story. Em sees himself in Juice, they had a lot in common
Dec 18, 2023 People are starving. They will gas up anything he dropped right now. Was a good verse but nothing too memorable. Doesn’t touch some of his other features in recent years for me
Dec 18, 2023 While you are right about certain people starving and gassing up anything he drops, that’s not all there is to it. This particular verse hits different when you’ve dealt with drug addiction, have people in your life dealing with drug addiction, and/or even lost people to drug addiction. That’s also intensified when you include the context of Eminem having this anti-drug verse on a song with a guy who died too young due to drug overdose, something Eminem almost died of himself. It’s like a full circle moment
Dec 18, 2023 Normally I don’t agree with the majority here, but for these last two Eminem features I’ve basically agreed with the majority vote on the polls. I’m getting slightly more hopeful that the new album could be good.
Dec 18, 2023 But the random broken English and Jabba the Hutt line in SWA doesn't hold it back from being a classic in your book LOL. This is why nothing you say can be taken seriously.
Dec 18, 2023 No, not really Its the same laid back monoton flow and the voice is also the same. You can hear it how he is pronouncing some words with this strange nasal manner
Dec 18, 2023 This verse is solid definitely nice content where he didn’t go off course with the fast flow or super cheesy pun somewhere. After a 3 year break I thought maybe his reappearance back would have a new sound like he does so often but the delivery is still very monotone like a lot of the post side A music. this and realist are a step in the right direction content wise
Dec 18, 2023 You take some ecstasy first, it gets progressively worse. I take a Vicodin, splash, it hits my stomach, then Ahhh!
Dec 18, 2023 It's so simple but something about this stanza hits in a way that always made it one of my favorite Em lines, just perfect execution.
Dec 18, 2023 I think that's just a product of the Juice Wrld posthumous releases, a lot of it feels like more care could've been taken. Especially compared to someone like Mac Miller who's estate has been very very careful with how his posthumous output was handled.
Dec 18, 2023 He became a family man after Ill Manors & then released a singing album a few years ago. I remember him saying he didn’t want to release hip-hop anymore because he felt disconnected from the culture with now being rich & successful. He’s clearly an artist that respects hip-hop as a working class genre & doesn’t want to taint it by appropriating it which I respect a lot, shame people like that are few & far between these days.
