Jan 1, 2024 Makes sense. I didn’t really pay much attention to the lyrics though so I’ll have to listen again. I like the song because I like the beat, his voice, and his flow. I don’t necessarily need bars or any of the stuff you mentioned to enjoy a rap song but I understand other people have different things they enjoy
Jan 1, 2024 I get that. For me that depends on the particular artist really. People like Kendrick Lamar, Black Thought, MF Doom, Eminem, J. Cole, etc. I’ll usually pay more attention to the lyrics on first listen than normal. But for JID it varies. I pay more attention to the lyrics on his more serious songs but on a simple freestyle like this I focused on the flow and beat more at first
Jan 1, 2024 Jokes aside I realize that flow is super important for me and makes JID one of my favorites, I don't necessarily need crazy bars cause sometimes simple lines do just fine for me. These freestyles are usually just warmups though and he keeps his best stuff for albums
