Jan 3, 2024 Side A when it's good has more things to say imo (even if they have nothing to do with murder and all that s---), side B feels a bit like a bunch of songs put together and for some reason I can't explain, all the covid bars aged horribly, I roll my eyes everytime they come up, I can't exactly explain why cause I don't have any problem with all the 90s, 2000s s--- on older albums but it happens
Jan 3, 2024 I have similar feelings. People love albums and songs feeling like "something" citing Em, which, in his case, means shouting, screaming, crying or yelling. Alternatively having some pop star or Juice on the chorus. I actually don't criticise, just saying.
Jan 3, 2024 I don't remember how many songs had Covid lines since it's been a while, but when I think of Side B highlights Gnat isn't the first song that comes to mind. Discombobulated, Killer, and Gunz Blazing for me trump anything on Side A, whose most memorable song is the decent but easily forgettable Lock It Up. Eminem's verse on I Will was good but the other goons on it ruined the song (of course, it's possible to cleanly remove their verses, but what's left is hardly a full length song anymore). Side B, while on the hole mediocre had only one terrible song (Alfred's Theme), while A had several that were somehow even worse (Farewell, Little Engine, Marsh, Stepdad). Hopefully he does better next time.
Jan 3, 2024 Bruh Unnacommadating, You Gone Learn, Darkness, Leaving Heaven, Yah Yah, Lock It Up, No Regrets >> Book Of Rhymes, Favourite b----, She Loves Me, Zeus, Discombobulated
Jan 3, 2024 Unnacommodating ruined by the first verse by what's-her-name and No Regrets by the chorus. Such silly decisions pull side A down a bit.
Jan 3, 2024 LOL, I've said much worse things about Eminem in here than that. But whatever makes you feel better!
Jan 3, 2024 this has 650 views in under 24 hours while No Regrets has 639 views in about 48 hours. That proves the fact that the old beats are better and this old production fits Em better. d---, most of the s--- gets maybe 400-500 views in 24 hours. Let's see what comes next.
Jan 3, 2024 this is true, but those rappers also aren’t capable of what em is capable of. and the fact is, compositionally, lyrically, thematically, it’s eminem’s weakest point. when he says encore with the bonus disc is better than relapse, he’s right, so even that is off the table as a point of comparison. skill wise, the curtain call 2 songs and recent features eclipse that quote unquote double album. darkness, i will and book of rhymes are the only salvageable tracks imo and the rest is monotonous nonsense. and his pseudo depression isn’t an excuse for this. i’m so glad he found his way back from this. as soon as i listened to gospel ft dre i knew sumn special would come soon, and what he’s done since then is some of the most introspective, complicated, entertaining writing ever. i am beyond hype for what he’s working on right now edit: @BelieveInMe’s post above which he posted while i was writing this post literally could not echo my sentiment better
