Jan 31, 2024 Geriatric Genocidal Grandpa vs Orange Man? Biden is a neo-con & his base within the Democratic Party is the professional managerial class. Trump is a people-pleaser, a salesman that is unwise politically & tends to react using the last piece of advice he was given, for better or worse. This was a problem last time because he surrounded himself with neo-cons like the John Bolton’s aka the worst people in the world (who he eventually fired btw). But his base is the rural working class, Middle America, the industrial base, that’s MAGA (well, there’s 2 factions, the grassroots one, which is the biggest & the establishment one). But at least he isn’t an extension of the blob, unlike Biden who is. Trump isn’t part of the political class, which you can see with the attempts to suppress his candidacy, with the indictments & the Supreme Court rulings — the out of touch elites thought that would make the masses see him as a criminal, but all it did was make him a martyr. This is why he had to surround himself with the neo-cons, in order to win the 2016 election without any disruptions like a Republican coup attempt & so on, to take the heat off himself as they’d declared war on him because of his objections to US foreign policy. Now he has a base which can be mobilised at any point, theoretically offsetting the need to be accepted by the political class. They’re still trying to get him but they’re clearly weighing their options because of his backing & also the fact that RFK JR. is running, who MAGA would flock to in an instant should the establishment take down Trump by any means necessary, which would be even more bad news for them if he won (which he would). I don’t trust either one of these bozos & they’re both bad choices objectively, but the DNC had the opportunity to prove themselves as more than just the “not Trump” party, but instead they went the opposite way by being the business-as-usual cheerleaders for war & causing an economic crisis across the West as a result, there was not a shred of populism, which was the only way to counter MAGA by giving concessions to the working class. Even if Biden was lucid, he’s still an imperialist racist pedophile (yet is running on the progressive ticket?), but the show’s being ran by Jake Sullivan & Anthony Blinken anyway who are equally as hawkish & incompetent. They had their chance with Bernie but he sold out twice under pressure. Whereas when Trump was in power, it caused instability for the empire & anyone not within the elite classes, has it in their interest to dismantle the empire now it’s in decline & reacting irrationally. (Arguably they also have it in their interest if they don’t want to die in a nuclear holocaust lol). So that’s the best option, which is bleak especially with DeSantis & Vivek now backing Trump. But I don’t see the counter-hegemonic base of MAGA tolerating what the Democrats tolerate with Biden & it’s pretty obvious that Trump needs validation from his base.
