Feb 27, 2024 Jeff Bass, DJ Head and Luis Resto (along with a deceased Steve King) are the true pioneers behind the original classic prime Eminem sound. I'd have added Mike Strange too as I believe he plays keyboards every now and then but his mixing of Eminems songs (mainly the vocals) have become absolute dogshit in recent years. Not sure why. Working with this exact team again imo is the only way Eminem can create another classic album. Otherwise it would have to take a miracle. I'm still very curious to hear the 25-50 unfinished songs Jeff Bass worked on with Eminem in 06-07, 5 of which he claimed were completely finished and sounded like classic Eminem. People may argue he shouldn't "revisit" old sounds because it will sound dated, but he's been "trying something new" production wise for over a decade now and it just doesnt work for him imo. Even just the Eminem/Resto beats, where Em likely programmes the drums and Resto does the rest, dont have that magical spark to it. In fact Ive been very disappointed in a lot of the Eminem Resto beats in recent years. Especially the ones on Shady XV. He needs to sit in the studio with his old team, discuss about what exactly he wants an album to sound like and what he exactly wants to say, and start creating songs from scratch. Not sure how likely this will ever happen though with the rumour being that Paul doesnt like the Bass Bros anymore and tried blocking contact with them after the lawsuit. DJ head did some of the best drums for Eminem songs in his discog. Soldier, SFTM, Drug Ballad, Words Are Weapons. Id rather see a whole new album under this team rather than a "sslp2" with hand picked beats that Eminem thinks "fits the style" from outside producers. Honestly Id rather he came with The Eminem LP than SSLP2.
