Mar 21, 2024 This is true, But... Kamikaze to MTBMB was probably his least drastic shift. It was like a little progression, and Kamikaze is kind of its own thing entirely too, but, this slippery rappity style... he's still got, a bit slower here n there but this has been the longest without a drastic change in rap style... like, tone, and everything. Like, Relapse? from anything prior, is just, bizarre. Drastic. Then that to Recovery? night and day... It usually is a striking shift. But, I think, and i think a lot of people think... he's kind of run out of places to go. I've got a feeling it'll sound, well, not before have we had features before an album where he sounds like x then sounds totally different on the album - the lead-up features usually give you an indication.. and so I think he's just going to sound like Realest and Doomsday 2. Which isn't very surprising or different.
Mar 21, 2024 I checked and every first single from an album by Em dropped a month or so before the album itself, *in case * Eminem drops a single tonight, we could expect an album for late April, maybe, after Taylor Swift's
Mar 21, 2024 Well, the lead up features to the album are almost always the style. I can't think of a time they weren't, other than maybe No Favors v Revival, btu even that was really - Believe is like it, and I reckon more of the album was too and I think he scrapped tracks when he got that reception. Revival was probably not that bad, he f----- it up I think by insecure last minute switches from bad reaction to that. Anyway, I think those tracks will be exactly how the album sounds. Which isn't bad, they're all great... but, feels a bit meh too, like, I used to love the surprise new sound of an Em album, the new style which we had no idea was coming; when I first listened to Relapse I was like 'wtf is this??' in a good way. I want that! But, let's see. Hopefully it's good.
Mar 21, 2024 Nah I think the days of dropping a single months before the album, for Em, are done. He's given us an indication it's coming, but I still think it'll come out of nowhere, or like single-video x album dropped at once like Darkness and MTBMB.
Mar 21, 2024 Weeks would be enough, with physicals and a video the next week to promote it a bit, maybe a performance here and there to show people he's back and support the song a bit. Then announce the album release date and maybe a second single
Mar 21, 2024 Definitely agree with needing that refreshing sound, and this will obviously be one of Em’s last albums & there’s no way he leaves the game without one more big surprise for us, imo. I feel like he exhausted that Kamikaze/MTBMB style anyway (not necessarily in a bad way) especially with Side A/B serving as a double album. So I don’t think we’ll see a continuation of that theme throughout the album. I’ll be quite disappointed if so. Kamikaze was obviously refreshing af (The Ringer in my top 3 of all time) after Revival, but it felt like a teaser and then he dropped both MTBMB sides which was a h--- of a lot of music in the same year soon after Kamikaze. It’s been 4 years now so I’m confident in something fresh.
