Mar 24, 2024 Even though I think that Kendrick is a better artist who's music has much more depth, I'd take J. Cole's catalogue all day every day over Kendricks. Coles music might not be as artful or deep, but it's catchier, *sounds* better IMO, and has more replay value, especially compared to Kendricks newer music.
Mar 24, 2024 From a pure rapping standpoint it's kdot>cole>drake and it's never been close tbh Saying that, Kendrick's last album was pretty mid for him and TPAB is one of the most overrated albums OAT. I'm sorry but it's true. GKMC and S80 are undeniable classics to me though. d--- is pretty f---ing close to one too. I'm not a Drake hater by any means and I actually love his older music but it's sad to see how lame and diluted his music has become. Pretty much everything from Views onwards is forgettable. It's a shame he chose the "get the most streams, numbers and clout as possible" route over genuine artistry and quality. Take Care was a classic. NWTS, TML and IYRT were great too. For me Cole has always been the one lagging behind in a way. Doesn't get the acclaim of Kendrick and doesn't have the popularity of Drake, who's best albums are better than Cole's imo. Take Care clears Cole's albums. FHD is comparable to NWTS but the latter is better. Drake is so far gone now (no pun intended). Hopefully Kendrick can come back with another classic or two and I really want Cole to solidify his place by dropping his magnus opus or something.
Mar 24, 2024 I see some people online claiming Kendrick Lamar buried Big Sean since Kendrick dropped the verse dissing Drake and Cole the same night Big Sean dropped a new song. Let’s be honest though, that Big Sean song wasn’t gonna do huge numbers regardless. It’s not much of a burial. The new Big Sean song is good though
Mar 24, 2024 People are looking too much into it, was Metro and Futures decision on when to drop, did inadvertently make a busy Friday even more crowded conversation wise. I just like seeing Big Sean get decent from Detroit 2 onwards
Mar 24, 2024 The opinion of d---. on here is interesting considering it's widely considered one of his weakest.
Mar 24, 2024 Yeah that’s true. Plus I thought Big Sean and Kendrick squashed whatever beef there was anyway
Mar 24, 2024 I think most people here like straight forward rapping without too many super heavy or complicated concepts, and I think d---. is Kendrick’s most simple and straight forward album (even though it still does have a concept to it)
Mar 24, 2024 Oh yeah I completely get it I'm even one of the freaks that enjoys GOD even though it's way too long of a song for what it is lmao
