Mar 26, 2024 It’s surprising about how tight lipped everyone is. This is the first Eminem “rollout” in years and I feel like EVERYTHING leaks these days or info gets spilled somehow, so it’s impressive how it’s been a week since the announcement and the album was played to Dre/others yet we know just as much as we did this time last week
Mar 26, 2024 SSLP, MMLP, & TES alone is enough to justify putting Em as the best ever—let alone top 3—don’t let anyone tell you otherwise I think comparing albums 1:1 without context is an awful way to compare artists It’s disingenuous to reduce the argument to ‘Em only has 3 classics, but *X* has 4’ Like yeah, maybe, but we’re talking about a holy trinity of culture-shifting rap albums back-to-back-to-back, as well as dropping one of raps biggest songs OAT in Lose Yourself on a soundtrack from a movie he won an Oscar for whilst breaking records non-stop in pretty much everything he did. How many people have done that? His prime run is more than GOAT-worthy, regardless of output post-TES (which is obviously over-hated anyway)
Mar 26, 2024 2nd half of Untouchable for me is on that list but it's f----- that you gotta cut songs into fractions for the good parts lmao
Mar 26, 2024 Re listend to revival again and I don't hate it. And on a decent pair of headphones it's even better. Not the best album his done but still not a bad album
Mar 26, 2024 Excluding the 3 we already mentioned, it's true that the 2nd part of untouchable is the only thing that comes close to sounding like a f---ing song made by a human being (one of the only decent beats and delivery) but I can't count it if I gotta go through all the other s--- first and it doesn't carry the song that hard to make it good enough imo
Mar 26, 2024 Yeah n post TES output... definitely there is an abundance of flaws in his... writing, (also production and corny hooks here n there) mainly; and, mainly due to puns; if you just cut out the puns, I bet he'd still look near flawless lyrically. But, he got obsessed with them and copying Wayne's vibe. But, yeah in terms of just actually bad albums, legit bad albums... he really only has 2 IMO - Encore & Revival. Everything else has its flaws, bad moments, bad tracks, but they're p consistent and great, especially compared to most rappers and artists. Like even other goated artists will have 1 or 2 truly great songs on great projects... he often has like handfuls on even so-so stuff. Relapse, Recovery, Kami, Side A & B are all pretty consistent and great. Encore is half n half but the good half is pretty good, and Revival is a trainwreck.
Mar 26, 2024 I was a die hard Em fan during his prime. TES is my favorite album of all time. MMLP has classics like Stan, The Way I Am and criminal. But most of Ems music hasn't aged very well outside of his standom. He's got 3 classic albums 2 of which are undeniable but with a hit or miss ratio not very great over 25 years. Friday Night Lights, Born Sinner, 2014, 4 Your Eyes Only & KOD is a strong hit ratio. I'd rather take a artist with 4-5 good to great albums over someone who has 2-3 great albums. Em is a goat but a lot of his fans are way too biased. If we go down the rabbit whole of who has touched on a lot more meaningful , deep or conceptual topics over the course of their discography, Em falls very short. But as you said music is subjective. I will always keep interest in New Em music but he's the only artist that I've ever liked that I'm always worried a new album isn't going to be good.
Mar 26, 2024 Revival a rare album where it's awful in every facet of it's execution and it's 30 minutes too long.
Mar 26, 2024 I actually do like the whole song but I agree that last half goes so f---ing hard. especially this “We raise it, you better praise it Or you'll be made to feel like a traitor, we'll Treat you like Rodney Dangerfield Home of the brave is still racist 'ville So this whole nation feels like a plantation field”
Mar 26, 2024 Yeah Em's classics were back to back and all at once though and so then anything less than a classic feels like a miss. But his only truly bad albums are Encore & Revival. Even Encore isn't that bad now. Other rappers have 3 classics, maybe, not even usually but more spread out so it seems like better consistency like 'Classic - ok, ok, ok - classic, ok, ok - classic' Wheras Em is 'classic, classic, classic' (wow guy can't miss!)... and then what comes after so seems like he's not able to reach the heights he started at, as opposed to just... who tf has all classic albums.
Mar 26, 2024 Women are weird maaan this girl I was talking to a month ago I stopped talking to cuz I wasn’t feeling her, messages me today outta nowhere and she’s like ‘hello I’m back’
Mar 26, 2024 And also I love offended. I know the chorus is s--- but he f---ing goes off in that second verse. “I’m cutting back on women hate crimes like Ray Rice when he FaceTimes”?!! that’s f---ing ill idgaf what anyone says
Mar 26, 2024 Ems prime era is unmatched I will be the first to say that. And agree all of my favorite artists and bands all had a prime era in the beginning of their careers. That's when their the most hungry and creative with a lot to prove, it's normal. I know Em set the bar high for himself early on as do others. My issue is that Em has released a lot of mediocre to bad music in his career that some people are so biased to acknowledge and that's why people outside of his standom call him overrated because he has fans that will argue til they're blue in the face that he's never done anything bad. That's what's annoying to me.
Mar 26, 2024 Does this normally happen when an album is announced that we get all these new randoms pop up here? Real ones have been here consistently and now there seems to be so much more
Mar 26, 2024 U should’ve seen this place when n----- m solo blue ball trolled the entire Eminem fanbase
