Sep 27, 2021 It's not really a good idea to do another Venom song for the movie, let alone an album. It's just a venom movie. Em just did the best possible rap theme song for that s--- already. What more can a marvel character influence lol. Umm, not really. Kamikaze was a viral album and it had streams to show for it. It had more than 400 k in the first week which is an huge number for those days. Plus, it's not like "Not Alike" has the most streams or anything. That album was pretty huge. At the time of MMLP2, let's not forget Em was just having the 2nd prime days in terms of popularity. Recovery did incredebily good and 2 of the singles were like the biggest Em singles ever. Nostalgia factor of the MMLP name, Recovery's popularity and Rap God being the first time he ever rapped at a incredible pace etc. helped it a lot. I don't think any albums really do 800k in first weeks anymore. Sure he could have but he hates the spotlight, he always did. Now he is at a comfortable place in his career where he doesn't have to do s--- for promos etc. With the streaming, he can just release his music and get on with it. Revival could have had other singles as the first one, from the marketing perspective, Walk On Water was like the worst first single he can drop among songs of Revival but it was a good choice artistically.

For Revival, he had to make the first single River or some other pop feat. For Kamikaze it is Venom, but the music video for Venom came out much later than the album and Venom is still the most popular song on this album. For MTBMB, he was supposed to release a song with Juice WRLD (a month before the album's release when news of his death came out), it would be a big hit. Eminem doesn't know how to choose the right single since 2015. I remember how in 2015 he made one of the worst songs as a single - Phenomenal and shot a big budget music video. It would be better if he then chose the single Kings Never Die and shot the music video for this single. And yes, he forgot how to pick the right single after MMLP2/ShadyXV. In 2014, Dre/Jimmy left Interscope and Em lost himself. I remember Em himself said 20 years ago that he chooses the first single like Slim Shady/Lose Yourself type to get it on radio and TV, and then he makes the second single a heavier one like The Way I Am/Cleanin Out My Closet. Why did he change that formula? This formula worked correctly for him. He must return to this formula. Darkness (MTBMB was supposed to be the second single because that's what he did for TES with single Cleanin Out My Closet. Why has he been disappointed fans in the last few years?
