Sep 30, 2021 I don't like Skylar with Em because she doesn't make Eminem push his boundaries as an artist. Whenever Eminem is featured with a rapper, he always brings his 1000% on the track. He writes his 10038383949494 bars, he changes his flows a thousand times with spurts of fast raps in between or maybe a whole verse with a super calm flow. He brings in some ridiculous wordplay. He basically does everything in his power to steal the spotlight and become the talking point of the track, mostly for good reasons. Look at his songs with Royce, rapping his a--- off and bringing 10/10 verses. His song with Don Toliver made him embrace the modern production with flows that would put even Gunna and Young Thug (2 artists i love a lot) to shame. His song with Grip over a slightly abrasive, unconventional beat had him rap one of his best verses in years. But with Skylar, he knows that there's a niche of fans that will eat those collabs up, he knows that casuals will bump it, he takes a decent beat, pastes a decent Skylar hook on it and writes down a 7/10-8/10 verse and goes ahead with it.

It feels much more reminiscent, in a good way... of his prime flows, like, it's more musical or something Like, even though he's still kinda chopping and words in bunches kinda s---... there's like a melody to how he's saying things, which is not always the case lately, like when he says 'really doh? how so', like, it's almost sing-song.
