May 31, 2024 Dude must have been dying of anxiety wanting to see what people thought about the single and the video.
May 31, 2024 If something is “controversial” I want him to mean it & have a genuinely witty angle. Just saying “huhu trannies” or “Gen Z are super woke but p-----s” isn’t clever or entertaining lol but I know a lot of people in here would lap it up
May 31, 2024 I know, this is what led to all the conspiracies... why they bein so f---in weird wit s--- lol, jus say DEATH OF SLIM SHADY OUT JUN 7TH
May 31, 2024 Took a bit of time to digest it all and not read any other opinions. First off, love the video, feels like the most effort out in to a video for him since maybe Rap God. Good concept, good AI, some nice cameos, some good throw backs, and threw himself in to it. Second, the sound. The beat is so simple but so catchy, what a good sample. Whilst Without Me is a better song, I find this to be as cartoony, but not as jarring. Think it's in that pocket where it's accessible enough to chart, but shady enough for us to enjoy it. Chorus is well done, especially loved the bridges. Third, the lyrics. Let's be fair, not a single Em goofy single has ever been up there lyrically, it's all flow and shock factor. So does this have some silly lines - Yeah. Do I expect it to be close to the most lyrical song on the album - No. But I think it's the closest Em has got to that balance between goofy and cringe for a while. So overall, a pleasantly surprising start to this. Resources are being used, there's a clear concept, I think it'll do ok charting wise, it'll get people talking - and most of all, I can see myself playing this every once and a while, which will be more than I've played any single he's put out since probably Encore. Ps. For special cases saying that reusing phrases and sampling for a chorus is lazy or lame - Ems recycled his entire career. The Real Slim Shady, which probably came out when you were still in a ball sack, borrowed phrases from a game show, FFS.
May 31, 2024 This isn't bad at all. Though not radically different in sound from MTBMB it's still pretty fresh and a decent throwback to the early singles (just as I predicted!). I enjoyed the video for the most part. Vintage Em's reaction to the current year "The f--- is this s---?" was a genuine LOL moment. There's a few other parts where he imitated his old self pretty well but they were mostly ad libs disappointingly. Highlights: - The bridge - Megan Thee Stallion line - 2nd verse This is as good as it needs to be to hold my interest in the album. Without Me for example sounded nothing like the rest of TES (except maybe Business) so it's anyone's guess what we're in for.
May 31, 2024 Agreed, and that's coming from someone who generally agrees with those sentiments. They're just too passé, SO tired at this point.
