Jun 9, 2024 I don't usually care about numbers man but him hitting that milestone this late in his carreer? post revival? that's amazing
Jun 9, 2024 If he doesn't f--- the album up... we might be at the gates of Eminem's undeniable second super prime.
Jun 9, 2024 A lot of very good things with “Houdini”: Good sound quality - sounds similar to the golden age mixing 99-2009 times. MTBMB had some solid quality, but Revival was an abomination, ShadyXV was terrible quality, and some of his most recent verses from 2022 (CC2 to Doomsday 2) had weird vocal mixing, very EQ'd to the point it sounds off. 2. Melodies - Melodic parts in verses have been far and few between since prob 2013? 3. Charisma! - One of the main things I was looking for, charisma, personality. He was able to show energy without yelling, which he used to do often during his prime. Would still like a little more passion but beggers can't be choosers. 4. Layered vocals - Not as layered as they used to be, but they were layered enough that I can see there will be more during the album (he also had layered vocals on Doomsday/The Realest) 5. Intro to a song - Em used to always have intros to songs whether it be an instrumental build up, or catchy little hook type part before the 1st verse begins. 6. Beat build up in a verse (3rd verse "Soldier", 2nd verse "Square Dance", 3rd verse "Yellow Brick Road") - Current Em has had a lot of beat changes, but hasn't really had that cinematic string/brass build up in a verse in a while. 7. Rap-along-ability - One of Em's biggest strengths from his prime was his songs flowed so smoothly and easily that it was very fun & EASY to rap a long too. This song has numerous moments that are fun and easy to rap with. There was a time between 2014-2017 where I never thought we would hear Em ever flow or sound like he has over the last 5 years. Glad he was able to come back, and I feel with this album his team is going to make up for the “Revival” debacle.
Jun 9, 2024 By the way Houdini was supreme to #1 song in every way like sales, streams but radio is f----- up houdini for example houdini had 4M air play while 100th song on Billboard hot 100 had 6.7M air play (69m for 1st song)
Jun 9, 2024 Of course this s--- goes number 2 when I bet on it being number 1. Smh my head! No Anitta Max Wynn for me I guess
Jun 9, 2024 Those chart rules are so f---ing dumb. Radio Play is literally just how much a label wishes to push the song, it has zero weight in how big a song actually is
Jun 9, 2024 similar, I didn’t say “on par” I think the mixing on houdini is better than a LARGE majority of Em verses from 2010-2024
Jun 9, 2024 the real twist is The Death of Slim Shady is nothing like Houdini and the album is being made right now after he saw people loved it
Jun 9, 2024 definitely did do not live Em and Rick Rubin together BUT em did come up with a unique style with Rubin, which worked on a few songs like “Rhyme or Reason”, and “Love Game”, but was terrible on “So Far”, “Heat”, “Remind Me”
Jun 9, 2024 the reality is the album will NOT be like “Houdini” look at “The Real Slim Shady”, “Without Me”, “Just Lose It”, and “Berzerk” he created those knowing he needed a catchy first single and the rest of the album was way different aside from maybe 1 other track
Jun 9, 2024 I'm not expecting it to be like Houdini. What I'm hoping for with this album is he can stick one concept for at least the majority of the songs not only in terms of content, but also in terms of flow and the tone of his voice.
