Jun 24, 2024 Can’t wait for the album to drop and all the trolls and alt accs leave …but I call dibs on creating the thread for the next album after tdoss
Jun 24, 2024 I know, I'm starting to get worried. Hopefully he didn't sprain his ankle or something when he jumped on the track like a kangaroo
Jun 24, 2024 To each his own but I've always found it a bit strange that people don't like SSLP as much as his first two. SSLP objectively has some of the most original and most creative writing of Em's career. An unapologetic display of wit and charisma, with a cartoonized depiction of his actual struggles. '97 Bonnie and Clyde is as creative as Stan. Guilty Conscience as a concept is so d--- brilliant. Exceptional storytelling on My Fault, Brain Damage, Around the World etc. Role Model/Bad Meets Evil/c-m on Everybody/JDGAF/SDGAF is riddled with genius writing. Then there is Rock Bottom and If I had. Not a f---ing misstep on the record. People talk about the production feeling dated but I've personally never felt that. It kinda stings when I see a classic like SSLP placed next to something like Recovery (where half the songs are hilariously bad), like that's a brutal trivialization of Em's genius and a major disservice to his discography.
Jun 24, 2024 Yeah, I think SSLP is just forgotten as many came on board with MMLP - myself included; I was aware of him with 'My Name Is', but, then got MMLP for xmas and that was THEE album. Then I went back to SSLP and heard it a couple years later. And it's just kind of a bit overshadowed by MMLP I think... and then TES... musically... But yeah, for sure. Overlooked and underrated in comparison, people lately act like it's just kinda s--- lol, which, it 100% is amazing, I mean - Brain Damage, Guilty Conscience, Role Model, Rock Bottom... C'mon. He's also hilarious on it, 's--- I got full blown aids and a sore throat', and as you say - some of his most creative writing - '97 Bonnie & Clyde' alone, omg. To write a love song to his daughter x a hatred track to his wife, in one, and describe murder details in baby talk... was just fkn hilarious, and genius the way he did it. And one of his most forgotten tracks - it's NEVER mentioned. It's always 'stan stan stan', but that track is creative brilliance.
Jun 24, 2024 97 Bonnie & Clyde is that good I’ve probably heard it like 3 times in my life because it disturbs me that much
Jun 24, 2024 the most shocking part for me is when he says he's got "two more things in the trunk", that means the other guy's kid too, that's some deranged s--- way more effective than Kim imo, because of the calm delivery that adds to the creepiness, plus the way he's talking to hailey about the whole thing as if it's a game
Jun 25, 2024 The answer is Ems voice on this record and the quality of the production. Other than the big songs, Role Model, My name is etc the sound quality doesn't sound as good. Em found his voice on mmlp onwards.
Jun 25, 2024 P.Diddy sent out a hit on Tupac, and the South Side Compton crips took it. So the killshot line is right. Diddy put out the hit that got pac killed. Even tho Diddy denies these allegations. He has been proven to be a master manipulator and liar following this year with the Cassie scandal and the Sex trafficking allegations and raids. Em will have Puff Diddy lines for sure
Jun 25, 2024 You could've just wrote ''Lol at placing Recovery so high'' instead of a whole analysis that essentially comes down to subjective opinion.
Jun 25, 2024 And just like that Houdini’s out of the top 10 and keeps free falling. https://x.com/PopBase/status/1805287640792731848
Jun 25, 2024 Agreed. MMLP is a more mature, more polished and a better album overall imo. It's like comparing T1 and T2. Both are awesome but I think most people would say Terminator 2 is better lol.
