Well pretty sure Ak tries to take credit for popularizing and owning the term and even creating it, I think, and yet he's one of the biggest fans?

Also to say something has 'no true meaning' has no meaning in itself. No words or terms have a 'true' meaning. It's all context. We give words and terms power through context and usage.

No term is more valid than another, just depends if people choose to use it and if they think it fits how X feels. And quite a lot of people agree that - that music feels like that term. So I'd say it has fine meaning.

If you like it or not, it’s number one on the charts and has everybody talking, it did it job, and will continue to top charts. So no matter how much you diss the song and talk about all the thing he mentioned in the song he knew you would say it’s not gonna change what the record is gonna do. If you don’t like his new s---, go listen to his old s---. And if you don’t like that either, why the f--- are you in this thread.

“Mumble rap” is used primarily in a derogatory way. It’s meant to undermine southern hip-hop/trap music & make it viewed as less than other sub-genres. DJ Aka does use it a lot & people have gotten on his case about it.

Yeah, I know why it's used.

So what though.

I haven't heard a good argument as to why the term doesn't fit how the raps are expressed.

If ''the mumble rappers'' think the word 'mumble' is derogatory... Well then don't mumble, because clearly they think the perception of mumbling is bad, but it is what they do. I'm not saying it's all they do, but it's just a literal description of some of the style of expression sometimes by quite a lot of them. So it is what it is.

And since they don't have a problem with rapping that way, like, they think it's good... cool... well then 'mumble' shouldn't be offensive to them. Own it. Because I don't see how anybody can dispute that they do mumble, or that the word doesn't fit quite a lot of the expressive style.
