Aug 25, 2016 I been following charts for years. Wikipedia always uses unreal shipment/sales number which make no sense, when you consider REAL reported sales. Recovery certainly didn't sell 17m copies either, as stated on Wikipedia. Funnily enough, the numbers for MMLP2 are right, as I would also estimate MMLP2 worldwide sales at 5m copies, simply because I followed that albums chartrun and sales for almost a year. Where did you get that 21m number from?... Source please. I bet hiphopdx or some other not so legit sites. Also, are you really telling me, that Em sold 16m copies worldwide? Even though the USA was always the biggest markest for hip hop, in which Encore "just" sold 5,6m copies? Knowing the USA was always Em's biggest market? How is that even possible? Come on, it ain't that hard to tell, that those numbers on Wikipedia are inflated as f*ck. Just look up at Encore's certifications. Those do certainly not justify 21m copies lmao.
Aug 25, 2016 What? Not sure what to make of that smilie dude. Also, for some folks to widen their horizons regarding chart/sales stuff -> http://chartmasters.org/2016/08/destroying-myths-fake-10-million-sellers/19/ I would also strongly suggest to read the whole article.
Aug 25, 2016 i don't see how the sales stats being right or wrong affect the fact that an eminem lp automatically > any other rap album besides another eminem lp inb4 shitstorm
Aug 25, 2016 Hey... Regarding just sales data... Em is the hip biggest artist and one of the biggest male artists of all time. I just thought the 21m copies in the title is very laughable and not really well researched. Encore again probably just sold around 10m copies+. Although I never said the sales stats "being right or wrong" does affect anything...^^
Aug 25, 2016 i haven't read any of the external links in the thread, is it possible those figures include streams or something?
Aug 25, 2016 Might be, but even that isn't possible as streaming is at it's peak right now. The biggest song on Encore which was streamed the most (according to Spotify) is Mockingbird with 130m listeners. That, for todays standards (Work has over 500m streams on Spotify alone) isn't much. But that is obvious, as Encore was released in 2004 and is a pretty old album by now. Those looong ago released albums aren't benefiting much from the streaming services^^. Billboard uses this formula: "Under the new methodology, ten track sales or 1,500 song streams from an album are treated as equivalent to one purchase of the album." And that includes just the US sales and streams. As Mockingbird (e.g.) has 130m streams overall on Spotify, just a margin comes from the USA. Altho probably the biggest percentage of those streams do come from the US.So Encore's total SEA+TEA data for Encore is probably at over 6m copies including his hard sales (In the US). But certainly not that much of a big benefit there. Encore's worldwide sales with streaming data included would not put it even near 21m copies... Not in the slightest.
Aug 25, 2016 TES can s--- my d-ck. Tired of people saying that's the best. Straight From The Lab EP > Whoever Thinks TES is his best album. MMLP is his magnum opus. The end. g.d.. Let's put that other claim to rest already. Y'all overrated TES long enough. Poppy a--- comformist Hip-Hop album. Yeah, I said it. "OH! EVEN PEOPLE WHO SAY HE'S USUALLY SUCH A MISOGYNIST ENJOY THIS RECORD BECAUSE IT HAS SONGS LIKE SOLDIER, SAY GOODBYE TO HOLLYWOOD, AND CLEANING OUT MY CLOSET THAT TALK ABOUT IN-DEBT PERSONAL AFFAIRS INVOLVING ROMANTIC AND FAMILY-BASED RELATIONSHIP! OMG! THANK GOD HE'S NOT AS OFFENSIVE AND DROPPED THE ACID RAP GIMMICK! WHOA! IT WAS WAY TOO EDGY! ALL ABOARD THE EMINEM SHOW DICKRIDER EXPRESS, FELLOW STANLEYS!" STFU about that overrated piece of garbage. There. That's done. *Goes Back To Listening To Devil's Night Because I Have Exceptional Taste in Eminem' Music* Two classics. One pretty good album. That's it. That's all. He's had glimpses of his prime self shine through on contemporary wax. Other than that, he's not consistent enough. Congrats on him going diamond with his best album first. Yeap. That's right. The Motherfucking Marshall Mathers LP, b------s. And congrats to him for selling that many Encore copies worldwide. Even though it's still his worst album.
