nothing i can think of off the top of my head but i cringe when i hear some of their music opinions.

had to argue with a kid about how GKMC is one of the best albums in the past 10 years.. all he said was how its mainstream and that underground is better LOL

all it comes down to is talent really. there are talented cats in both the mainstream and underground. but likewise, there are wack n----s in the mainstream and underground as well. i think more so in the mainstream but thats just my opinion.

also i think its subjective on what "era" of rap you like the best. a lot of people will say that the early 90's was their golden era of rap, and its the best or "realest" era. for me personally i got into rap around in the early 2000's. it was the aftermath/shady/gunit s--- coming out at the time up until 2005-6 which got me into rap. everything they did (minus thoughts of a predicate felon) was a classic and they were virtually untouchable. that was my golden era.

There really is a reason some rappers stay underground forever and some become famous, it has to do with having charisma, marketability, a persona (not necessarily a fake one...just the ability to present yourself in an interesting way) and most of all they have to be compelling. I really don't think any "underground" rapper that I can think of could make an album anywhere close to GKMC or any Kanye album.

Tech N9ne is pretty popular, if he's underground then he's the absolute ceiling for the underground because he's all over Madden and on TV and radio and has a world famous drink that he made up not to mention i'm pretty sure the highest selling independent hip hop label ever

agreed. no underground rapper will ever come close to touching what he has acheived. do you think KOD stands up to the likes of GKMC or some Kanye s---?

I hate hearing it all the time too, "00-03" was a whole lot better, now music is just noise.

The only "mainstream" artists I really listen to are Drake, Wayne, Bronson (if u wanna call him that) Yela, Riff Raff, Kendrick & Old School em...and occasionally Kanye.

Yeah, I'm 18 and I try to steer away from talking about hip hop with my friends as much as possible. I think it's just our age group tbh..... Like a week ago I was talking to a group of friends about Drake's new album and they were basically saying it was trash and how J. Cole's album s----s all over it and they went like nuts when I said I thought Drake was currently a better artist than Cole despite Cole's album probably being better than Drake's mixtape/album.

Then again a majority of them do think Cole > Kendrick too so I should of expected it.

There's a good amount of s--- music in both underground and mainstream, but there's great music in both. As of lately, "underground" artists haven't dropped s--- & by the time they do only 50 people will give a f---. Mainstream rappers aren't bad anymore either, this isn't 06-10 with a few exceptions

Dont have a problem with mainstream. Hate the radio though, all they play is the same garbage a--- s--- repeatedly.
