    Who needs bars when your beats can carry you to the promised land? I guess that's the attitude a lot of young guys have. Back in the day people would cry at night, wishing they'd die so they would throw on a rap record, and they'd sit and they vibe - now people listen to popular rap and get turnt up. I don't think there's like these emotional connections as much in mainstream hip hop because everybody is saying the same s--- lol.

    It's still there ofc but mainstream rap is pretty shallow right now.

    No, it's just a differing opinion of what is and isn't enjoyable

    Some love TLOP because of the instrumentation

    Some love Views because they have bad taste in music

    Etc.

    The production is A1 and people call it old man rap lmao. It's just a sign of the times man. I've fallen out of line with the main stream for the most part. Plus these youngsters don't know what the f--- they talking about half the time and think every sound that isn't Futureesque is dusty trash.

    I agree with @Koolo and @Tha Story to an extent. But My Krazy Life is a great example of a modern day 'classic rap' sounding album. I love the mix of listening to both innovative and traditional rap sounds tbh

    In my opinion rap is in a good place now and it's heading into an interesting direction. There are many great tapes dropping, the rest is up to you to find them. Listen to what you like and stick with it, there should be something for everyone

    A rap album doesn't need to reach mainstream to be considered classic.

    TUT dropped an incredible project last year in which I would consider a classic and I guarantee only 3 people here know who he is.
