Nov 30, 2016 dw download ETA is 16 hours ill be able to do cool warps like u guys tomorrow seriously tho this game is so f---ing fun, the whole warp based combat is f---ing sick. and HOLY f--- YOU CAN JUMP. str8 up if you play an open world game and you can jump, it just makes the game 1000X better idgaf what anyone says jumping should be a video game staple, if i played mario on NES when i was 5 yrs old and i could jump, every game since then i should be able to jump. no exceptions. #jumpinginvideogamesmatters
Nov 30, 2016 Yesssss jumps are life, especially in open world games. Only thing I've found so far about this game I don't like is it has the invisible walls and you can't swim, unless you're on a chocobo, like there's the ginormous brachiosaurus looking monsters I want to go out and k--- but I can't get to them unless I'm on my chocobo and then once I'm out there to them there's nothing I can do cause I'm on my choco, no way to dismount or anything. And the invisible walls s--- because they just do.
Nov 30, 2016 i got too excited and rushed up to ep 3, chilling back now and doing hunts/side s--- so i havent hit any walls yet. i'm about to do a few more hunts then hit up the chocobo's, havent unlocked them yet but just got the side quest for them. I kind of expect the walls though, past FF games were pretty linear when you consider the "open world" portions are basically empty, bar the 3-5 towns. Only graphical complaint i have is the draw distance, seems like they saved a lot of processing power by limiting the textures/shadows/lighting on further away objects. But this is only a minor complaint cause like, i've had a steady 35-40+ fps which is really good compared to most AAA console-games.
Nov 30, 2016 I have been doing all the side quests I can before continuing, about to finish chapter 3 once my update finishes. The chocobo one is fun. I let my brother do that one and I kind of regret it.
Nov 30, 2016 I don't ever pay any attention to my frame rates, I just know the graphics are wonderful. Lol. And if I remember correctly I believe that the 10 gb update fixes some of that texture shading stuff
Nov 30, 2016 yeah im just thinking though that in a few years time when the PC-remake is released its going to be f---ing insane. They specifically said they don't want to port it, but actually specifically remake it for PC.
Dec 1, 2016 Just encountered my first griffin. Level 53. Painstakingly hard at my lowly level 16. But I won. It lasted an entire day.
Dec 1, 2016 ok the car system is a little dodgy, considering they don't explain it well, at all. Not 100% sure, but it seems like for 10 gil, i'm able to fast travel ONCE per day? but to actually fast travel, you have to jump in the regalia, select auto, select a map point and then just hope it says "fast travel for 10gil?" or else you got a 2 min car ride of you staring at screen. getting a little annoying, but I got chocobos now so i just ride them most of the time. but f--- i swear fast travel needs to be better.
Dec 1, 2016 So certain locations have a >> symbol and those are the ones you can fast travel to. This is basically where the Parking spots come in.. You wanna leave your car at a strategic location and travel by chocobo this way once you do the quest or whatever you are doing, you can just select "return to car". Idk it's kinda iffy but I worked it out where traveling isn't a huge pain. Basically the car is for long distance traveling and the chocobo is for everything else. I definitely spend more time on the bird than the car. Considering the structure of the game, this is definitely on purpose to emphasis the road trip feel and I kinda like it because I remember playing Skyrim and staring at "fast travel loading screens" toward the end of the game because all I did was teleport from point to point doing quests and not actually playing. Consider using the car less and more as a "time to go somwhere else" thing.
Dec 1, 2016 oh okay, that makes more sense. I think I was trying ot fast travel to outposts, probably slected car parks by accident when i fast travel'd. yeah that's basically the conclusion i came to, try and tactically place your car so you can just "return to car" after you've foought a couple of mobs and done some quests. totally agree about the Skyrim part. I prefer watching the car than load screens. But I dunno all the car mechanics just feel sluggish kinda - still in early game though and eventually you get the flying car so i mean it's probably only road-tripy for the first major portion of the game.
Dec 1, 2016 Yea the car seemed like the biggest nuisance at first and totally not necessary considering the chocobos but after playing more I can appreciate its purpose as a teleport device. It's definitely a main element of the game but if you absolutely hated the car, it's possible to play without it minus certain quests.
Dec 1, 2016 @Final or @The Last Son either of you hit the "leviathan sequence" yet? the update says specifically theres lots of improvements to that sequence and early rumours/leaks were basically "game is good, then game is amazing after leviathan sequence"
Dec 1, 2016 No way I'm taking my time... I mean I'm lvl 32 but I'm staying away from Main Quests as much as possible.. I think I'm Chapter 6? Honestly there hasn't been much story yet... Kinda random stuff that makes me scratch my head. Hopefully things start amping up story wise but so far it's kinda awkward. (I don't wanna spoil) It's like the game itself is the Open World and the story is just kinda in the background idk. Hard to explain, the story has taken a back seat I feel due to the movie. The first half of the game is kinda aimless and even more so if you haven't seen the movie. That's probably why they say it gets amazing once you get halfway thru. Everything comes together better than how it started
