Feb 18, 2017 Honestly I'm kinda regretting not putting OG DS right above DS2/FUTURE -- I think part of the reason I put it so high is cuz of the nostalgia of what an "event" it was...basically the culmination of the celebratory Honest taking a sharp, dark turn to Monster to the more lovesick/bluesy Beast Mode and then the bleakness of 56 Nights. It kinda distilled the latter three projects into one, but you're right in that it makes it feel disjointed. I listened to it every day for probably two months, but when I try these days it usually loses me about halfway through. It's a good project that could use some rearranging (and why weren't the two non-mixtape bonus tracks part of the album ffs).
Feb 18, 2017 Can't find illegal d--- dealers/imitate a nasty cough so I can't really get lean but I made that comment because Future does lean and lean does have a trippy feel to it similar to weed from what I read.
Feb 18, 2017 I dunno man, guess it was just an experience for me when I heard it. Nah I aint underrating it, I do enjoy the production on DS but not as much as the production on DS2, the production on those 2 projects are very different, I just like DS2 because its more modern and clean.
Feb 18, 2017 top 10 pretty easy to make (unless you're you and have heard everything i guess), but i can understand why someone would prefer a handful of projects over this one. it's a stronger callback to traditional ATL sounds versus the signature future sound he developed on his studio projects after DS. like he sounds like jeezy on we winning pop them bands could flawlessly use a TI feature like upper echelon prob the closest we see to pluto future probs.
Feb 18, 2017 1. 56 Nights 2. Beast Mode 3. Pluto 3D 4. Monster 5. Honest 6. FUTURE 7. Astronaut Status 8. DS2 9. Purple Reign 10. Dirty Sprite 11. EVOL prob this for me
Feb 18, 2017 DS2 is more of a mix bag of music, I feel like out of all of his studio projects, it has the worst flow. And with some of the mixtape songs making the cut, it just feels less compelling than the tapes themselves. I feel like the tapes were what created the magic of that run, DS2 was just a culmination. It's not as special as any of his tapes to me, even though it has forever classics like Thought It Was A Drought and slave master etc. idk man i think out of all the regulars in the future forum, i like DS2 less than all of you guys. FUTURE a better project to me simply for the arrangement and how flawlessly it carries moods throughout.
Feb 18, 2017 tbh i cant say that i like FUTURE more than DS2, but so far i have listened to it about 3 times and it has grown on me so who knows so many songs just left me unsatisfied because of the production, i just feel like the album didn't reach to his potential. Future himself sounded absolutely fine on the album, he was funny and kept my attention even when the kicks and snare made my wna throw my headset on the floor lol (i actually did that) so what im gonna say is if beast mode 2 drops this year its probably aoty hehe
Feb 18, 2017 1 Honest 2 Monster 3 Pluto 5 56 Nights 6 Beast Mode 7 Dirty Sprite 8 Astronaut Status 9 Purple Reign 10 Future 11 DS2 12 Streetz Calling 13 True Story 14 1000 15 Kno Mercy 16 Evol
Feb 18, 2017 d---... Future has quite the mixtape discography. I've listened to Monster and Project E.T., what mixtapes should I really listen to?
Feb 18, 2017 at least listen to beast mode 56 nights astronaut status dirty sprite streetz calling purple reign in whatever order u want take ur time with each tape
Feb 18, 2017 I'll listen to Dirty Sprite first. I thought mixtapes were just ways for people to rap over instrumentals but I'm interested in it now due to the differences between DS2 (space sound) and the OG DS (retro ATL sound). I'll give you my thoughts on it tomorrow.
