It became another failed experiment. I was doing it at the same time as the music club so maybe I just didn't give it a fair shot. I'm always down to talk about movies. Hopefully others feel the same.

I'm still a novice, but knowing that is half the battle. You seem pretty loose and enthused tonight. A little more whisky than film?

Okay, well it seems like a consensus on MAYBE

Don't know if anybody here cares, but I wrote an article comparing the book Room with the movie adaptation.

I guess it was the underwhelming trailer, but I went into Everybody Wants Some!! with somewhat low expectations and it actually turned out to be a lot of fun. Linklater once again exhibits his characteristic lightness of touch, with a casual, relaxed atmosphere that looks easy but is so rarely replicated. There's nothing even remotely resembling a conflict in the film, just his trademark focus on human connection and the nuances of conversation. He offers a highly entertaining, yet idealized look at his own past, but Linklater is fully aware here that nostalgia is usually seen through rose-tinted glasses.

I actually haven't seen any of his films...not even Into the Wild....

Lineup looks pretty cool...Definitely anticipating the new films from Assayas, Dardennes, Dolan, and Ade among quite a few others.

Really liked Everybody Wants Some. It was pretty much exactly what I expected from Linklater, though the trailer had me worries. I think @Twan has already described it best, so I'll leave it there.

Fun, spirited, warm, and nostalgic. Pairs uproarious comedy with nuanced conversation and honest exchanges.

    86/100 - Excellent (4.5)

I think we can chalk that trailer up to marketing towards the American Pie crowd.

Saw Jeremy Saulnier's Green Room, which was pretty dope...Like Blue Ruin, it's a brutal, concise, sharply executed thriller about characters who are ill-equipped to be in one. It takes a few leaps in logic to get to a more audience satisfying conclusion, but overall it offers sustained intensity and tension that is rarely seen in like-minded Hollywood fare.

@Twan Have you seen any other Franju? After watching Blood of the Beasts and the interviews/doc on the criterion I'm really interested in seeing more of his work. Probably Judex first.
