The Cotillard nomination is dope! (Dardennes ftw). And can't be too mad when films like Boyhood and Grand Budapest Hotel k--- it in nominations (A little less The Imitation Game would've been nice)

There was an abundance of worthy Best Actor candidates though so there were always going to be good ones left out. Redmayne and Cumberbatch were locks forever, so I can't get too worked up over those. Carrell's nom is the only somewhat disappointing one, particularly over Gyllenhaal.

Well, you're very zen. 4/5 of the nominees are, perhaps expected, undeserved. we need to ferguson this b----. life itself/lego movie got snubbed.

this is why we need a roundtable. stop working at whatever "job" you have

Lol I'd argue Cooper and Keaton are both worthy. I haven't seen Cumberbatch or Redmayne (not sure if I will), but I'd guess their performances are better than their respective movies.

As for animated, I'm just happy The Tale of Princess Kaguya got in, as it's one of the best of the year.

Cooper? Bruh. Oyelowo got punished for the same things Cooper is being celebrated for.

Yep, I was keeping quiet because I was going to maybe review it. Cooper is great imo...the movie not so much.

I was also pretty disappointed that Jessica Chastain didn't get nominated since she's Jessica Chastain.

She's been snubbed so much in her short film career. Crazy that she got nominated for THE HELP

Very predictable oscars for the most part, with some really weird snubs (no Fiennes, no Gone Girl, no Lego Movie???). The Gone Girl snubs really puzzle me. The academy has seemed to love Fincher ever since Benjamin Button and GG seemed like a lock-in for Editing and Score nominations.
At this point I'm hoping The Grand Budapest cleans house.

Yeah that Gone Girl score was really unnerving. Definitely one of my favorites of the year.

I don't know, I'm just incredibly surprised Bennett Miller got in for Directing but the film didn't get a Best Picture nomination. I don't care much for the film, but even with this expanded slate, that's pretty shocking.
